started listening at the age of 12 in 1963 and still my all time favorite vocalist. Inspired my early love of jazz and still does. I truly miss this wonderful person and artist.

It's hard to lose a treasure, but to lose two in the same year --within months of each other is heartbreaking. Nancy Wilson is one of a kind. Class, Style, Sophistication...the likes of which this generation today has no clue about. RIP Nancy job well done, job very well done!!!

You have spoken the honest truth. If this current generation would just stop running all over the place trying to be somebody, and listen to their forerunners, their teachers, the lessons laid down, not to become them, but to support their own talents and gifts (if they truly have them in a particular area) they would be a force to reckon with. Add true humility and respect for the audience, musicians, technicians, maintenance, designers and producers everyone that contributes to them being who they are which is what a true artist does, we would see the making of a true legend. Forget about this flash in the pan nonsense, numbing your mind and assaulting your ears. Unfortunately, many among the younger generation are 'performers' who dance for their supper and can't afford to stop. Keep enjoying the classics: Nancy, Sarah, Gloria, Nna, Dina, Carmen, Miles, Billy, Sammy, and the list goes on. All the best!!😊💕

Nancy Wilson has been a favorite of mine about as long as I can remember, I began to admire her sometime in the early 1960's and have never lost that awe and admiration for her talent! Here she ably sings "All of Me" and an old standard favorite of mine, "All My Tomorrows" with the great orchestra behind her (nice trumpet interlude!). She may be gone from our lives now, but never forgotten, because we have her wonderful tapes and recordings to always keep her close to our ears and our hearts! RIP, dear Nancy.

My uncle Rusty Bryant gave Ms Wilson her start back in the day. She and my mother sang with his orchestra a lot before his career got started. My mother was Barbara McCarroll. He once told the story of Ms Wilson wanting to go with his band to California, but there wasn’t any room in the van with all of the equipment. She was upset. About half way through the trip they kept hearing noises in the back of the van. He pulled over to see what it was and discovered that Nancy had hid behind the drums. So they had to take her with them. The rest is history.

I just noticed all the spelling errors in my post 2 months ago i was writing through tears losing Nancy Wilson and are tha Franklin and most of all my sweet dear loving mother a special woman went back to school after having and bringing all 5of us into adulthood and earned her masters degree after seeing that i learned piano and teaching me to appreciate people like Nancy Wilson and are tha Franklin and others but it is so ironic that i lost all 3 of the most important women in my life in the same year so that why i had so many errors in my previous post the tears of sadness and joy in the fact that i had them in my life the time that they were here praise god for he know what's best and for giving me such beautiful intelligent grateful angels to be the most important influences of my life praise we walked this earth at the same time!!!!!!

Nancy's vibrato had widened, when Increasingly turned me off, but I remember her most fondly (and with considerable lust) as Chicago DJ Sid McCoy's "sweet Nancy, the baby," from her earliest recordings, and a few years later with Cannonball. I still love those early Capitol LPs which I now have as CDs). I recorded her live with the Basie Band in the mid-'70s, when she was still singing great. And for a few years, I saved the foamy blast filter for my mic that night. DIVA is a great band -- I got to hear them several times live -- equal to or better than the better known White of the era.

Nancy Wilson, a girl with blood type AB, is best friends with Whitney Houston, a girl with blood type A...the Saga of human creatures...that's nice!
He's Ms. Wilson's conductor. She introduces him as such after the first song.
@jazzyvocalfan5 жыл бұрын
@@maxrobertson9008 He is not Ms. Wilson's conductor. It's Jay Ashby, who was heavily involved in all three of Nancy Wilson's late-career recordings for the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild. She says this is the first time she's had a different conductor in about 15 years. Her usual conducter was Llew Matthews

@@emanx222 It appeared that the big band was comprised of all women. So I was wondering why the band leader was not also a woman. So rare to see women band members aside from vocalists. I was thinking that Nancy was promoting women musicians. But I'll admit I didn't do any research so forgive me if I jumped the gun.
