The group originally formed in Mankato, MN, with founders Chris Rupp and his brother Adam Rupp (the beat boxer), in 2000. They added Rob Lundquist, lead tenor (guy with overalls and thick beard in this video), Tim Foust (deep bass, has a 5-octave range), and Austin Brown as high tenor (guy singing first in this video). And in 2016 Chris left the group on good terms and helped select his replacement, Adam Chance, the baritone (he goes by Chance to not be confused with the other Adam). The group won the 4th season of The Sing Off on NBC. They are the only country all-vocal group out there, but they do other styles too. Hope that helps, and you're going to LOVE going down this rabbit hole!

If you react to more Home Free, resist the temptation to assume one or another is the 'lead' singer. It varies dramatically from song to song and often within a single song. They always, ALWAYS, let the music dictate who the lead is - if there even is a lead - which is why, in my opinion, their covers are often better than the originals.

This song is very very old. 1st written down in 1913 and 1st known recording is 1928. It's down in Bluegrass style. Home Free has over 180 videos on KZbin. They lean "country" but do all genres of music. To get the depth of their considerable talent try to listen to a few of these covers & originals by them... (Covers) Some Girls Do, One-Man Band, American Pie with Don McLean, When a man loves a woman, Cover me up, & Country Roads, (Originals) Dreamer, Dive Bar Saints, Lonely Girls World, and Cross that Bridge...their talent is unbelievable

You will love them... and Voice Play (if you haven't encountered them as well). They competed on NBC'S The Sing Off. They've remained friends, and Geoff Castelucci & Layne Stein actually arrange music for them , and they have cameo appearances in randon videos. Avi Caplan (formerly the bass for Pentatonix) appears in Ring Of Fire, and Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget. Tim Faust (Vass of Home Free) appears in Voice Play's video Just Sing.

Just to add a few notes (so many have already given details about Home Free). Austin (high tenor from Georgia, now lives in Tennessee) was doing the lead in this song; Rob (tenor from Minnesota) beard and wearing glasses; Tim (bass from Texas, now lives in Tennessee); Adam Chance (baritone from Alabama, now lives in California) goes by Chance and was doing the mouth harp; and Adam Rupp (beatboxer from Minnesota) who has been called a human drum kit. He does castanets in their Sea Shanty Medley. He's awesome!

I found these guys last year. This was the first song I ever heard from them & I was instantly hooked. The talent of these 5 men is insane. Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. There bass singer Tim Foust is the best in the business & Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. They lean towards country but can sing any genre. They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

(I'm new to this page) but have they attempted Voice Play (My Mother Told Me or Oogey Boogey Man) or their bass, Geoff Castellucci : 16 tons, Take Me Home Country Road, Misty Mountains or Monster Mash? Once a reactor discovers Acapella they never really get back to normal

When a song doesn't need a beatboxer, Adam Rupp sings tenor. He is the only original member of the group from 2000 when he was in high school. Rob Lundquist joined in 2008, Tim Foust and Austin Brown became members in 2012 and finally Adam Chance in 2016. Chance was the one doing the jaw harp sounds at the intro and outro. FYI These guys frames match their voices. They are all tall between 6'2" and 6'4".

Everybody is recommending some great song but they're skipping the sillier ones. They put together a lot of amazing videos during the quarantine while they were stuck in and around their separate homes in 3 different states. A partial list: Quarantine, Meet in the Middle, Sunday Best, Down to the Honkytonk. And then there is the amazing song by Peter Hollens feat. Home Free, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. Tim Foust (bass) wrote Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget and it sequel Full of Cheer. There's Guilty Pleasures (2 slightly different versions -- one with "derailed" in the title and one without -- watch them both) and (from a live show) Songs That Didn't Make the Cut. Check out Love Train. So, so many songs. I'm going to stop with their wonderful collaborations with the original singer/group with Elvira (The Oak Ridge Boys), Children Go Where I Send Thee (Kenny Rogers), and American Pie (Don McLean).

Great reaction! The guys of Home Free are amazingly talented gentlemen. They each have wonderful voices and could easily have successful solo careers. Thankfully they want to keep Home Free together. They all sing lead (except the beatboxer Adam) and they choose the lead depending on which singer’s voice fits the sound they want for each song. If you like the harmonica that Adam did, then check out Home Free’s cover of Working For a Living. He has a harmonica solo in it that is amazing! Also, the video shows their names in the beginning, so you can match the name to the face and the voice. Thank you for reacting to Home Free!

Welcome to Home Free. I have been a fan since they first sang on the The Sing Off, and rooted them on all the way to winning the show. Each of them are phenomenal at what they do. They have a wide variety of songs, some covers, some original, many different genre's, some so funny that you can't help but laugh. They always put a smile on my face, unless i am crying (which they have made me do on several occasions). But it is because of who they are that keeps me a die hard fan. And they have the BEST fans!! Home Fry for life!! React to more and i will gladly sub and enjoy every reaction.

Chris Rupp, one of the founders, left the group and now has his own reaction channel on KZbin. "Chris Rupp Reactions" will show videos about their beginnings in High School choir. For your next reaction do their cover of Johnny Cash's song "Ring Of Fire". They feature Avi Kaplan former Bass singer of Pentatonix, another Acapella group. You just heard "Tim Foust", Home Free's bass singer, so teaming up with Avi for double bass on this song is a very nice treat. As a bonus, after you react to it you can go to Chris Rupp's reaction channel for his reaction to the video, since he's the one who set up the video and edited the final cut. So you get some inside info on how it all went down . You guys will know more about the band than your Uncle! 👍😎

I love it when people discover Home Free. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, I Swear, and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. There isn't a designated lead singer, per se. The group decides who should take the lead on any given song. They have a silly, fun side, but they have a serious side, too. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. Great reaction!Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! Welcome to the world of Home Free and a cappella. They are a phenomenal singing group with a large repertoire. You really can't go wrong listening to anything that they do, but here are a few suggestions to highlight their versatility (in no particular order) for country... Ring of Fire, Take Me Home Country Roads and Folsom Prison Blues; for religious... How Great Thou Art and My Church; for patriotic... God Bless the USA and Brothers in Arms; early rock... American Pie (featuring the original artist, Don McLean, 50 years after it was released); for R&B... When a Man Loves a Woman and End of the Road; for humor... Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget and their Butts Medley. That should keep you busy, but it only scratches the surface. And if you'd like a little more of their beatboxer, Adam Rupp, check out his drum solo from one of their live performances. It will blow your mind! Finally, while you're on this a cappella adventure, please take the time to check out these three other fantastic a cappella groups, Pentatonix (Hallelujah), VoicePlay (Oogie Boogie's Song, from the Nightmare Before Christmas), and Voctave (Disney Love Medley). You will not be disappointed! Onward into the void!

Austin Brown started popping up on my feed at the beginning of covid. Then one day, Austin popped up again with Tim Foust - who I had never heard nor seen - and they did "My Maria". You MUST check this out! You won't believe Tim's range. After the song, they come on and chat and my ears/brain had a difficult time realizing Tim's speaking voice was coming out of his mouth after having heard him do nothing but a clear, precise falsetto! The song is over 100 years old and was made popular by George Clooney in the movie O Brother Where Art Thou. Home Free is the real deal. I discovered them during the pandemic and fell in love. They won the NBC show the Sing Off (2013). They are country but sing all genres and they can all sing lead depending on the song. They have amazing voices and are known for their harmonies. Tim Foust, the bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low but also up in the tenor range. Lead here was Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist was second lead (glasses). Adam Chance in the back and Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015) will knock your socks off. He’s an incredible Beatboxer and has won championships. They sing covers but also write and sing their own songs. Try Country Roads, Helplessly Hoping, Brothers in Arms, In the Blood to hear more amazing harmonies. Also a great group is Pentatonix - try Daft Punk…it will amaze you. A cappellla is great! Great reaction boys!

Home Free is really great. All have their own specialties. They don't really have a lead singer. They see which song suits whom. A few recommendations: End of the Road, Brother of Arms, How Great thou art, Dreamer, Mayday.... But actually everything is good. Sometimes serious but other times just hilarious. With so much fun... Really a little bit of everything. Adam Rupp(the founder with his brother Chris who left the group in 2016) is inhuman with his beatboxing/vocal instrument sounds. The Mouth harp at the beginning and end comes from Adam Chance (Baritone) He also sometimes takes care of the Bass when Tim Foust (amazing Bass but can also sing Tenor) sings the lead. Austin Brown is an incredible High Tenor with amazing runs. Rob Lundquist is a tenor with a voice like an angel and a lot of soul. All of them can beatbox, by the way. Then watch the live performance of the song 9to5
