If Bigbang were the Kings, TVXQ were the Gods (Their name means The Gods Of The East) and SHINee The Princes. TVXQ once held the Guinness world record for both largest fandom in the world and most photographed celebrities. They are absolute legends and imho the pinacle of vocals in kpop. You should check out some of their live performances. People might think they were forgotten but they're actually still big in Japan and Korea, it's just most of the fans are people in their late 20's to mid 30's that aren't into streaming and mass buying so it's mostly a quiet but wealthy fandom that prefers to spent their money on concerts and fansigns.

omg??? this is the first kpop group i stan! people used to say bigbang is the king of kpop and tvxq is the gods of kpop. TVXQ itself means rising gods from the east. even rookie bigbang, when they met tvxq they were kinda shy too. tvxq is the first second-gen group, they revived the idol-group kpop that was dead and literally made to save SM from bankruptcy, SM urgently gathered all the best vocals they had at that time (bc good vocals can't go wrong). you should check out their ballads LIVE perf. (imo xia junsu remains as the best vocal in kpop industry) THIS GROUP WAS SO SO BIG, by big i meant IMMENSE!! you literally can't touch them, they broke many guiness records. in korea's variety shows, usually the guest (be it idol or wtv) will be make fun of jokingly but no one ever dare to do it with them. (only one person did, LKS i'm talking about you lol but even him had to apologize to the whole fandom first). now i feel connected to your wife in so many levels!!!! btw shawn said it's as if they're possesed, mirotic's korean title is 'jumun' which means spell

Thanks for reacting to TVXQ! They are the Gods of Kpop. The idols of idols. This song is very popular in Korea to the point that other groups have performed and covered. To this day this song will never die. TVXQ are like the older brothers of other idols and are respected by everyone. Super talented singers. They debuted back in 2003. So she won in the end, anyway. This was one of the two songs that introduced super-sexy concepts into KPop, musically and in videos. The other was Abracadabra by Brown Eyed Girls. KPop would never be the same after those two songs.

Tvxq was at that time what BTS is now. They were the most popular group back then and with the record of the most large fan base (now the record belong to bts and army) In my opinion they are the most talented group in kpop's history, at least vocally speaking. No other group can sing like them because the 5 of them can actually sing. It's a shame that SM was so stupid back then to let them go. They were on his peak when 3 of them sued SM and the members were only 22 years old. What could have been of kpop If they didn't disband... Maybe the kpop breakthrough would be sooner. Who knows? I will always love this group. I was an only fan of them Until I fell in Bts's hole 2 years ago. I took me 7 years to finally stan bts because I always compared them with Tvxq until I fell in love with the rap line and became an army. Because to me no group will sound like them ever. Their voices were made in heaven. Thanks for reacting to them.

Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. (BigBang didn't debut until 2006.) But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.) However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. The day after Christmas was TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki's 18th anniversary, and even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. "Mirotic" is a made up word that really has no meaning, but it is derived from a play on the word mirror + otic -- the title was originally supposed to be something like mirror but they thought the word sounded better if you added otic to the end of it, (it made it sound cooler, or something.) Think of it as the words mirror and exotic combined -- that's just how you pronounce the title, not the meaning of the word. "Mirotic," which came out in 2008 when they were still a 5 member group, is a classic in the Kpop industry and every new rookie group -- both boy groups and girl groups -- learn this song and choreography and almost every rookie has performed it on music programs, award shows, at showcases, etc. at least once in their career. This song, like SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong," Girls' Generation's "Gee" and Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry," etc. is pretty much compulsory for everyone in the entertainment industry to know and learn the song and dance to. In the MV for "Mirotic" the woman is supposed to be a siren, like from Greek mythology, and she is tempting and trapping or luring the TVXQ members to her. Like they say in the song "... I got you under my skin ..." But in the end you see how the members have broke free from her control. (Often in Greek mythology the siren, through her intoxicating love powers, lures guys to their deaths.) Also, you should know, that the "red ocean" they are referring to in the song has a double meaning -- TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is red, so when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. Yes, TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. As an SM Entertainment group, it's no surprise that TVXQ are outstanding vocalists. Being some of the best dancers and vocalists in the industry is what we have come to expect from all of SM's artists and groups. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to be a part of its company. Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted, so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 34 and U-know is 36. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him. Changmin is known for his powerful high notes (even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO), he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins. (Fun fact: He got married in 2020.) U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His passion is kind of a running joke within the industry. It's one of the things he is most known for.) The funny thing is personality-wise, Changmin and U-Know are complete opposites in almost every way. Changmin is quiet, calm and level headed and prefers to be alone; and U-Know is loud, high energy, intense and prefers to be with a group of people. Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA, etc., they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world.

The truth is that the second generation was divided into two, in the first (year 2003) there were groups like TVXQ (DBSK), Epik High, Buzz, Dynamic Duo, etc, for the second (year 2005-2006) they appreciated groups like SS501 , Super Junior, Big Bang, Norazo. They all consider themselves to be the second generation despite the gap of several years, that's why TVXQ can be considered the true kings, but the group with all the members ended due to various problems. That is why most know BB as the kings, in addition to the fact that they contributed to the change in music and styles, making a difference in Kpop. Please react to more old kpop, it's great to see your reactions, it could be ss501, dynamic duo. or from the first generation Shinhwa, Seo Taiji, H.O.T, Sechskies, GOD...
