1.What does a typical day look like? get the specific outline they want you to do 2.What is the family lookig for in terms of commitment? a summer nanny or a long term nanny until the kid grows or what 3.What are their discipline philosophies? You want to be in a place that you agree with what they do. 4.What are the children's likes and dislikes? anything to be aware of to help figure out if it's the same thing that you like and enjoy such as being outdoor or indoor more 5.Have they had a nanny before? Do they rotate nannies. what is their expectations. 6.Do the parents work from home? Will they be their to handle something or you will handle everything. what you are stepping into.. 7.How do they like to communicate? some people in the house, they write down especially under 1 year old to know what you've been doing during the day..how many diapers changes, how much they eat bottle feed, that kind of things...older kids; did they do their homeworks, etc. ask them how they want to know, through a book, an app texting during the day, send photos or call them so you can find out during the interview stage 8.Covid related questions? What their beliefs are around...mask, vaccines, what's the expectation of being on transit, taking the children out, where can they go, not go. Do they want the children wear masks so figure out what the bubble is and see if that aligns with what you are looking for in a job 9.What are the next steps? Do they want you to follow up, do they want to interview another nannies and they want to make a decision in the next week in the next 3 weeks to know what should the wait process look like so ask at the interview.

Your questions can help determine if your values, parenting styles, and expectations align with those of the family. Preparing questions for a nanny interview helps ensure that you and the family are a good fit and sets the foundation for a successful caregiving relationship.

As an Ex Au Pair in USA and future one in France, I found this interview questions very accurate and introspective. Being honest and objectif from the very begging can make a huge difference to assure the best and genuine experience for everyone, specially the children, and as you said, taking care of children is a "real job". This information would had make a huge difference back in the days for my first time as an Au Pair, I'm glad I found you on time! I appreciate all the information in your channel! keep going!! bendiciones ✨

Question to ask on an interview: when the parent gets home from work earlier then the usual time and all your chores/ homework are done. Do they expect you to stay until the exact time to go home, or is the nanny free to leave? Adios! Tchau! Good bye👋 Would there be a "ok, see you tomorrow" or stay only if asked to? I think it is important to have this conversation before, so you are not hanging around thinking about it when no one says anything...

Great question! We have a video coming out on April 10th about guaranteed hours. If you are a nanny for this family on a regular basis then there should be a guaranteed hours clause in your contract. This means that if they do not need you for any reason then you will still be paid. Check back for the video on April 10th for more details.

I've been a newborn nanny for nearly ten years now. I love that you said - we're not just being interviewed, we're interviewing them. 100 percent!! And if they ask you about your rate, if its negotiable at all, confidently say no, your rate is "X". Know your worth nannies (and mannies!).

What are some examples of good questions to ask for live in positions??
@TheNannySolution3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. I don’t have any experience with live in questions as The Nanny Solution only places live out nannies. I will do some research for you and see if I can find some.

I asked all this questions got a 50 hour a week $18 dollar a hour position with a 1 year old and 4 months I am going to school for early childhood education and I have only 1 Reference and less than a year worth of experience. But because for this interview I prepped I wrote down a lesson plan that I would follow with their baby three of them actually three days worth and I asked all of the questions that you stated in this interview they just offered me the position and I feel extremely grateful they’re gonna need me for 10 months and that’s gonna be an amazing reference are there any videos that you suggest that will have good tips on how to do a really really awesome job. I will be making 43,000 this year which is amazing I love your videos thank you so so much she said she can hear how excited I was and prepared plus I didn’t ask about the money right away

Another big question; are you comfortable with contracts, PTO and GH. For later. For like the final interview Because if they’re not and you signed onto a job where they don’t do it, you’ll just be resentful

Good questions for sure.

Is a good question, is there a trial period? Thanks:)
@TheNannySolution3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you should know if you want a trail or not. It can also help you decide if the family is a good fit for you.
@RG-hf9em3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNannySolution Many thanks for your reply. Exactly! It works both ways. Usually it's written in the contract in Europe, a trial period of one month. That would be really great! You can see, if both parties are compatible for long term. I have an interview this week:) Your videos are fantastic, lots of great tips!:)👌💕
@RG-hf9em3 жыл бұрын
I have another question:) If you have a video call interview, can you get hired without meeting all the family in person. They live in another country not very far away by train or plane. Should I suggest, meeting them in person after the interview? The agency said if the interview goes well, they will prepare the contract and book a flight for me to go there, within a month or so. My question is perhaps it's best to meet the family in person first beforehand? Thanks:)
@TheNannySolution3 жыл бұрын
@@RG-hf9em For most nannies they like to meet the family before they begin work. That said there are many nannies and au pairs who come from other countries and do not have that opportunity.
