Very cool to be able to connect 2 motors to auto clean them… super easy to clean

Ok Boys and girls, and you too Ethan!! I have some very good news. I just installed my nano filters on my wall-mount CamVac unit and holy zamboni, what a difference! My CFM went from ~480 up to a whopping 590!!! And my previous 480 was measured on a new machine with clean bag/paper filters. So, these nano filters are an absolute must IMO and well worth the money!! P.S. I looked for days for a U.S. source for similar filters (thought maybe I could save some money), and I even spoke to the owner of Wynn Environmental who said there's no business in them making a filter like this, so they don't. So, in the end, just get 'em from Ethan and don't waste your time looking elsewhere. The price on these is good and they got here from Canada in just a few days anyhow. Lovin' my CamVac now!!

an upgrade for my camvac for sure! just the 20% airflow increase convinced me

i did get these from you and they are awesome. the increase in airflow has to be way more than 20%, more like 50% or even more

I can see this upgrade in my future = when I buy my CamVac. Thanks for the info.

Will you have to clean them as often as the canvas bags? Fine dust on the main bag builds up quick. I keep one washed at all times for that purpose. It’d be nice to not to have to open it up as much

Good demo Ethan; very informative. Btw, you might want to experiment a little with the placement of your microphone (a little lower possibly?) as you sound somewhat muffled/not nice a clear.

Is this filter kit from Record or is this your own development? Does it impact warranty?
@StockroomSupply Жыл бұрын
The NanoMax filters are something we make aftermarket for the Record Power Camvacs…not a Record Power product. They do not impact the warranty. Thanks!

Here's what I don't get: I just got the 2 motor wall mount CamVac. Brand new. I also got the same anemometer you're using here. I checked the anemometer for accuracy using wind speed (driving in my car at numerous speeds) and it's spot on. That leaves the only variable for measuring CFM as the area of the duct being measured. Using 4" (2" radius) and measuring it right on the outlet of my CamVac, the Max CFM I am able to get is ~484 with both motors on. I don't know how you are getting 520. Only thing I can think of is an inaccurate entry into the anemometer where it asks for the area in square feet, which for a 4" circle should be ~0.087. The CFM reading can also be double-checked using an online calculator where you enter the radius (2") and simply measure and enter the speed. The max speed I'm getting is ~63mph. BTW, both motors, individually, each give me ~28mph max. or ~215CFM. That said, it's certainly more powerful when reduced to ~2.5" than my decent Craftsman "6.5 hp" Shopvac was. 252 CFM vs 195 CFM for the Shopvac. The unit is certainly nice, but the numbers certainly don't blow me away the way I hoped after watching all these videos. I measured these numbers using the brand new, clean stock filters, with plastic collection bag on and motor vents stock with their caps on (and also off). I might have to go for the Nano filters to see if I can get a 15% increase or so.

I have found that the actual voltage supplied can change the airflow of the Camvacs. Most households 230v can be anywhere from 220-240. If your voltage is on the lower end you may find you get a little less performance. This video shows what I mean - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYHUd5xmfpqnpsUsi=Q5a06bXZe1ZC1fFJ

It seems that the NanoMax filters will quickly be covered in dust as the drum fills. They extend what looks like double compared to standard filters. Do you just have to empty the drum more frequently?

does it invalidate your guarantee not using the original camvac filters if something goes wrong?

The NanoMax filters do not effect the warranty on the Camvacs 🙂

These filters look like they'll make emptying a little cleaner. Is there a good way to monitor whether the can is full other than checking or waiting for the motors to wail?

I am a one man shop and will never be running dust collection on more than one machine at a time. My tools include 10" tablesaw, 8" jointer and 400mm planer (both with helical heads), 540mm bandsaw. Do I really need the 3 motor or will the 2 motor meet my needs?
@davidtakeda7409 Жыл бұрын
I have had a cam vac for over a year & am glad I purchased the 3 motor unit. My table saw takes the most air flow as I have an extra 4" open end hose attached with magnets to the front of the table saw to collect the sawdust coming off the blade on the table top. I am a little short on air flow in this case so I am looking at upgrading to the nano max filters. If you were not using the extra 4" hose, the 2 motor unit might be ok. I suggest for the cost difference to go with the 3 motor unit. You can run 2 motors & then alternate them so 1 motor has a chance to cool down for 15 minutes every 2 hours as per the manual. I have 2 x 2.5" hose connections to my band saw & do get better dust collection with the 3 motors running. Also my recently purchased Sandx 17" drum sander also works better with 3 motors running. The other tools run ok with just 2 motors running in the cam vac.
@gordiecumming Жыл бұрын
In my similar one person shop, using only one 4" port tool, table saw, bandsaw, planer/jointer, at a time the two motor cam vac has been excellent. Would the three motor be better? Possibly, and I'm not sure it would be a noticeable improvement. Using the upgraded filters has improved performance considerably. If I make additions to my dusk collection it will be a air filtration unit. That would address nano sized particles floating in the air.

If I am venting the cam vac to outside, is upgraded filter necessary?
@StockroomSupply2 ай бұрын
The upgraded filter will give you better overall airflow(about 15% increase) but if you are ducting it outside the better filtration doesn’t matter. Choice is yours!
@jayf3562 Жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it make sense to keep the cloth filter in place to separate the larger particles? Have you tried this?
@francoisbouvier7861 Жыл бұрын
That would work. I think it would also lower the CFM. Defeating the original intention . As the video mentioned, for extreme situations that's a good practice.
@robertpradolini5405 Жыл бұрын
Does the cfm drop considerably if you use the bags over nanomax filters?
@StockroomSupply Жыл бұрын
If you put the paper bags over the NanoMax filters you will certainly loose the gains in airflow the upgraded filters added. Essentially they will bring the airflow back to standard, which is still quite decent.
