Is / was Captain Birdseye an advertising character in the US? In Britain we had loads of adverts for fish fingers / fish sticks featuring Captain Birdseye Named after the American company Birdseye founded by Clarence Birdseye. When I came to Germany I noticed the things that in Britain would be marked "Birdseye" where branded "Iglo" I was also impressed with the German lyrics complete with a German rhyme scheme and a reference to an albatros (an illusion to the Wagner opera Der fliegende Holländer The Flying Dutchman who also has a curse (Fluch) on him) My classical education in the Arts pays off in listening Nanowar of Steel which is a song about fish sticks but also more LOL

To me this is their song to lobby themselves into playing at Wacken and I'm all down for it. WOW... lololol, yeah, it's probably been said before, but they indeed did VERY well with the pronounciation, I mean, there were some points where the Italian accent was more apparent than others, but I basically could follow the lyrics without having to consult the captions at all, so kudos! Second, wow, Tank, THANK YOU... I'd heard the band name before, but I'd always thought they were like very hardcore metal which isn't really for me (on second thought, I probably conflated them with Manowar or something by accident?) so I never would have checked them out if I hadn't seen multiple reactions from you by now and thought to myself 'well, if Tank's doing multiples, I HAVE to have a listen some time' and I am greatly appreciative, cause I've definitely found a new favourite! As for the video, it was great, hilarious even, but what I loved most was all the little meta nods to the Kapt'n Iglo original. He's like an animated ... brand ambassador I guess? Who's been part of the marketing campaign for those fish sticks for years and years, and I don't know how well known those spot are outside of Germany, but I remember like a whole series of them, with bits like the fish sticks making the inside of the fridge glow it like was full of pirate gold - like at the start of the video - full on nostalgia feels, lol. That was a great find!

When the lyrics go faster it's getting hard to understand but for the most part they pronounce their German very well. Despite the subtitle mistake on the 28 wich was mentioned by someone else in a comment before, the only thing I recognized was the Fischboulette, which should have been Fischbulette without the o and the e at the end not silent like in French (nit-picking on a high level here). Actually, Fischfrikadelle is even more common but that's just a regional difference and every German would recognize each version. You've probably checked out the Italian version too, the lyrics are slightly different in some parts without affecting the overall tone. I would prefer that version to just listen to, somehow it has a more earpleasing flow to me but the video is more fun with the German lyrics.

look up "Käpt'n Iglo Werbung" (Werbung = ad / commercial) and then pick some clips of the 80s or 90s. You'll probably have no subtitles, but actually you won't need them.

In the part with the "Rauschebart", the singer sounds eerily like J.B.O.

I am wondering if they are tributing Sabaton with the war like theme, naval stuff and singing in german that way. I get sabaton vibes. (Yes I know Sabaton are swedes and sing in swedish or english. I am swedish too 😅).

i love that they made a german song about fishsticks... there is something special between germany and italy when it comes to Metal Music :D For Example Vexillum, Italian Band with some collabs with Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian). It somewhow always ends up awesome hehe. To your Question: Their accents are pretty solid! It sounds like germans trying to sing with a slight accent not like italians singing german :)
