My dad was ODA in Iraq at this time. His dudes were QRF (quick reaction force) during the invasion of Fallujah and drove into gunfights multiple times to back up Marine units. He watched me play about 3 minutes of this game and said a big "NOPE". So yeah...not a recommend for vets of this time lol.

My coworker also mentioned how the enemy they faced over there was vicious and had a lot of tenacity. They served in the USMC after the Afghan War was technically considered "over", but there were still insurgents around. My coworker's main job was comms but the squad was also in charge of setting up the local population with supplies to defend themselves. Next day, the locals would be wiped out, usually all of them. The enemy back then would record themselves doing it too.

I was just playing the original Left 4 Dead and the AI teammates are spot on. They're good at movement, shooting, picking up items, healing, etc. I remember SOCOM 22 years ago had decent AI with really cool and effective voice commands. What the hell is going on today? What I love about this game compared to other shooters is it introduces gamers to the reality of not being able to get a clear look at who or what you’re shooting at when in a firefight. You really start shooting at shadows in this game, and it’s just nice to see that realism aspect to war accurately represented here. Not like COD or Battlefield

It's good, I did this for a fucking year in Ramadi 2005. I can attest to fuck no I wouldn't be able to play this. I made it 9 minutes and my heart is pounding. BTW after a while you can tell the difference between incoming and outgoing. In coming has 2 sounds milliseconds apart, the fap of the round hitting the ground and the boom when it goes off. Unless it lands within 20ft or so then the world just explodes, leaving you in a tunnel trying to figure out whatbjust happened.
