But i dont remember boobietrapping dead/wounded soldiers being a warcrime (although it could be rendered as a violation of a right for medical treatment and care from the first convention).

Ages ago when I had a really limited internet connection I tried playing a game similar to this. I kept dying without any warning. Sneak up the road. Hiding behind bushes. BLAM. Ded. BLAM. Ded. I was never even firing a shot at the enemy. I though wow... this just shows you what war was like. All that prep and you die never even seeing the enemy. Such a lesson.. A few days later I realized that my connection was just too slow for so many players, so the enemies that were shooting me were just never rendered on my screen :P

I love this game tbh. The trick is not to play it the way its intended to be played. Instead, you get a SMG, and you run around like a headless chicken. Everyone else has bolties so they just miss, and you zig zag your way up them and brrrrrat brrrrat. Especially fun when playing Russia with Stalin's Typewriter.

I know there are some strong competitors to this game, but credit where it's due: *Hell Let Loose* is astonishing in its realism. Everything I know about war (from veterans' stories and real combat footage) is accurately represented. Let me share a few aspects that never fail to impress me. Just like in real combat, you rarely see the enemy. You have to think strategically, listen carefully, and scrutinize your surroundings to get an idea of where the enemy might be advancing. Just like in real combat, stepping into open ground means instant and guaranteed death. This keeps you on edge, constantly moving from cover to cover, all the while nervously calculating where the enemy could appear from next. Just like in real combat, you don’t always need to fire with precision. You can suppress the enemy by laying down harassing fire in the general direction of their advance. Just like in a real offensive, the attacking army often paves its way to capturing territory with sheer numbers. No matter what anyone says, any offensive is a "meat grinder." It’s always a chaotic bloodbath where you barely understand what’s happening, where the shots are coming from, or how organized (or disorganized) the enemy is. Artillery, aviation, and heavy equipment make you feel utterly helpless. Strikes can land anywhere, at any time. There’s no escape from artillery-it’s always a matter of luck. The developers have implemented excellent game mechanics that make players feel what it’s like to “hold a position” or to be driven out of it and lose control of a territory. I also want to highlight how serious the map design is in this game. You really need to learn how to "read" it, as the symbols and designations align closely with those used in military cartography. I appreciate that while weapon-handling skills are undeniably important in the game, they aren’t the defining factor. For example, you can effectively lead your squad, step by step securing enemy territory and paving the way for other players to advance. The list could go on...
