Fellas big ice fisherman here - they are shorter rods because the shanies you sit in are very small so don’t have the room for them to be large. Expensive small rods for ice fishing are still strong weights even being shorter. I’ve caught a 32lb walleye on a 3ft rod, doesn’t matter on length.
