+femylafi and +Roses Stylinson --- exactly --- implying some Brits have not considered her British. Naomi is not a fool, she speaks her mind and if she feels or felt that some Brits haven't consideedr her British, she's not lying on them, she's being honest. On some occasions she must have not felt the love and patriotism and some sort of discord against her for her to say what she said. She certainly wan't putting up a front.
@femylafi8 жыл бұрын
CoffeeLiciousLady I believe her simply because she was picked up in London where she grew up at some points. London is Capital of England, so everyone has been there, at some point. And any one black going there on a regular basis will notice the covert types of racism. England has always been pretty racist, in a covert way. Even if they don't say it to your face, its the smile and talk behind your back and stab you type rather than open USA type racism. Look up the film this is England, it is about England and a black boy trying to fit into London area. Its harsh truth of the history of England. Skin heads which are a type of racist person in England, are similar to KKK, they hate black people.

Racism is still prevalent in the UK and it is not your fault Naomi . You should not feel bad because of how THEY perceive you. You are the victim.

How many british vogue covers has Jourdan had in comparison with Cara? It's a race issue, they see Naomi as an iconic black model but not a British model, same with Jourdan she's the black model of now whereas Cara is the top British model, it's really sad and odd to me, i think Naomi and Jourdan excel their counterparts and they are the best British models we have.

@@227Love I know this is from a few years again and you probably won’t see this, but if by chance you see this or anyone else reads this I’d like to point out a few things. The interviewer’s response to Namoi being open about her experience of not feeling welcomed by British people was “We love you though” which automatically separated “we” as in Brits from “you” referring to the interviewee. It wasn’t malicious. Not at all. The interviewer didn’t intend to separate the two but the meaning and impact of “we love you though” does imply a distinction between the group and the individual and they were discussing a national identity. It did further highlighted Naomi’s point because it was an ignorant response. An inclusive response would have been something along the lines of, “You are just as much a Brit as everyone else representing the event, and it’s unfortunate there are still people that can’t see that” or “Well, you were born and raised here, you clearly have a British accent, where else would you be from?” Another thing I want to point is how the interviewer suggested the reason people may have had that perception of Naomi is because she traveled a lot. Naomi was born and raised in England (she also literally has a British accent) and traveling is a part of the modeling industry. The interviewer wasn’t being disrespectful and of course the two things are facts that can easily be looked up and I’m sure the interview knew that. That’s not what I mean. The people who perceive Naomi as not British have that perception because most people in England are white and she’s a black British person. Unfortunately racism still exists and often people associate a country with a specific skin color. It’s of course not on the interviewer what other people have said or done but this video really highlights the difference in experiences between two people who were both born and raised in the same country but having different skin colors. Racism isn’t just about hate or malice. It’s about perceiving people based on their skin color, phenotypic features, and/or racial stereotypes rather than who they are and what their cultural background truly is. Many minorities deal with feeling like a lot of people in their country don’t see them as belonging there even if they were raised there. I’m a U.S. citizen born and raised but I’ve had so many experiences of white Americans coming up to me asking where I’m from and then repeating the question when I say the U.S. while emphasizing “But where are you FROM?” as if a person that looks like me had to be a foreigner. That mentality is what Naomi was talking about and she was just being honest about the racial bias many people in the world still have that affects specific demographics in a deep way.
@227Love3 жыл бұрын
@@JJ-fi2no well let’s just say, some interviewers just enjoy asking questions without going in depth. Naomi is a sophisticated person with her own opinion, she’s brutally honest and that’s lovely, but no every interviewer is ready for her or her answers I believe. Miss Rosie was just giving your typical tv/interview friendly answers. Not all interviewers are that professional. That being said I still think she tried being nice given the pressure of the answer was out of her league you can tell she’s tense throughout the whole interview

Keith It's the accent; even people from England (especially the older generation) expect a "British" accent to sound like Adele or the Queen or you know a stereotypical cockney and if you sound anything but (maybe due to having an African or Caribbean or Asian undertone) they think "oh where were you born or raised?" and it's worse with Americans.
@Raider5777 жыл бұрын
+Sayiyasit is .. Not true. Older people from England and everyone else are quite aware of other English accents like Mesrseyside, North East( Geordie) South West , Cornish etc. If you watched British Tv for the past 30 years you would be aware. Do they sound like Adele or the Queen on Coronation Street.
@justdoit.86yearsago7 жыл бұрын
+Sayitasit is Naomi has a very British accent. There is no foreign undertone there
@Jason41977 жыл бұрын
justme it has a foreign undertone to it...however in the Britain of today that is called a "multicultural" London accent. It is basically a London accent that has foreign influences/undertones as London is heavily mixed...it isn't typical multicultural, but still is, and somewhat has a "poshness" to it too, so it's very mixed. @Raider77 I wasn't even talking about those accents that are native to the UK, I'm talking about Multicultural British accents. Also, once you're not white, when you speak, people pay more attention; if you sound "proper" or "educated" they think there's something wrong, even black people look at you differently, anyways my point is, there's a reason why she's been called "not British" even in her own country and abroad, because she doesn't sound stereotypical.

Even though this interviewer looks nice and polite and I understand it’s her job to make a shallow interview but I want to punch her in the face. When Naomi starts talking about REAL issues, other 2 women look soooo uncomfortable - just relax ladies and listen and try to sympathize. Quit fake smiling!

To think Naomi is almost doubling Rosi's age, yet looks more beautiful and vibrant

@zakkxx12 жыл бұрын
Maybe they don’t recognize her as being British because she is such a powerhouse that British people can’t believe that she was born amongst them.. plus she is loved and respected everywhere that she really is a woman of the world embraced everywhere she go. When I was a kid I used to think she was an american citizen. I’m French so all accents were foreign to me back then lol.

Naomi Campbell is fashion history. It's like sitting in a room next to your Principal. There is always going to be that intimidation factor. And I think the interviewer is genuine and a complete fan of Naomi and fashion.

Naomi was the first black woman I ever saw with impressive weave. I thought it was her real hair. That was back in the days of jerry curl (the wet look).
