never understood Obama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for "what he was about to do". As Naomi says: prize for "virtue signalling". IMO dilution of significance.

good point about austerity being an impediment, not really solving ANY problems, environmental or economic

One of the things which surprise me is that hardly any climate activist taps into perhaps the biggest resource of CO2 reduction and other forms of environmental destruction which is putting an end to the gigantic waste committed especially by the rich nations in pursuing profit and keeping up the consumer society not to mention their exports in countries the economies of which are thereby destroyed. And nobody appears to mention the waste by the militaries and the Pentagon being one of the biggest emitters of CO2. Instead they mention forms of a "Green New Deal" which sound like adding more growth on top of the endless growth being perpetuated as we speak.And that is by no means all which is missing from the discussion.

And one more thing... when I look around or I go out trying to speak to people about climate change - I hit upon a front lead not only by governments an corporations worldwide but by the people in the street: They simply don't want to know about it, they consider it just another hype, they find you ridiculous and they are firm in one thing: Let's continue as always So this is what one needs to take into account before just about anything else - and it remains the same even if some people meet somewhere in protest before they all go home again..
