Osaka needs more flexibility in her game ,no slice with backhand no drops , no coming into the net,only hitting from the background.She must bring new for her issues in her game!I think she might play doubles get the feeling in front and try to serve better,a partner in double helps her maybe for confidence and good psychology. I think it will help her.This all neefs more physical traing strong feet too!

Osaka is trying to get back to being fully acclimated to the game; conditioning, different playing conditions weather-wise and per surface. Zheng is already there and it has shown so far in this impressive season. Osaka has shown stretches of her prime level of play, but that's not likely to be enough vs. most top 10 players.

Don’t expect Osaka to be the same as before she won 4 GS titles. Osaka never worked hard enough on improving her game before she became a mother. She was such a force on hard courts when she won those 4 titles. However, if you were paying close attention, as I was during those times, you would have seem that she never played many tournaments, even during hard court season. When she did, she wasn’t winning many regular WTA tour titles at the 500 level. I’m referencing after she started winning GS titles. I had noticed her lack of consistency getting to finals, except hard court GS titles between 2018 and 2021. Naomi needs to put in the hard yards when it pertains to the minutest details in becoming the best of elite players in tennis. I think she will be ready by hard courts season this year to make some noise on the tour.

Qinwen wanted to be ready to play and beat Naomi in this second matchup. Osaka had beaten her on hardcourt maybe in 2021 or 22. Dont recall. She did what most players do, when they are playing a multiple GS champ, and one who is not good on clay. Zheng has trained in Spain on clay, and is comfortable on the surface. Zheng was determined to play up to her ranking. She had to beat Osaka, who is coming back after more than 15 months, having not played tennis. If Osaka had beaten her, it would have been such a bad look…lol.

There too many rounds. Round of 64 is better and can get it done in a week. The tournament round 1 could start on sunday and finish the next Sunday. 8 days full of action rather than this weird format. I just love tennis everyday rather than this dragged on nonsense

She beat Serena and it was a huge deal because of the name and what Serena has done. When Serena had a baby, came back and lost the final in Wimbledon (one she should have won) we finally started seeing time, not playing much, not the belief we once saw time and time again and of course a baby catch up with her. Naomi banked on that and it thrusted her into the spotlight. Also at Serena’s age and during that time we haven’t really seen that much of a great power player and great server like Serena (but without the mental edge Serena had) so I’m sure Serena at her age was frustrated to deal with that.

When Serena around, the powers that be in WTA get behind Osaka, as next great champion. In 2024, no one feel they have to let someone steam roll em, just cuz opponent higher rank or because the establishment like em. Osaka not gonna get an easy match and it not what she expect, having been one number and 4 grand slam winner. If Osaka can rise again, it be a pretty heavy accomplishment. But. It would seem that for now, even number one ranking, points highest, no intimidate. I like to see Osaka play Rybakina, when the latter no have issue with health, travel, or injury.
