@@forgottenrelics1197 hell yeah! Additionally, some of Toyotaro's work on Moro somewhat reminded me of Shida. Especially in the face; how Shida draws his smiles. I predict Super will return by December of this year or early next year. Hopefully sooner

The way he handles colors is absolutely great too. It’s so precise and sharp, but not in a way that seems blocky. It adds a lot of detail to, what are on their own, very simple shapes. As you said, the pointy and sharp shapes give a great, aggressive look that works beautifully for the quick and hard hitting action scenes of Dragon Ball.

@@OXhuls animating on 1s means you draw every frame. Since 2D animation is done at 24fps, this means that there are 24 drawings every second. Drawing on 2s means that they draw on every other frame so that means that the animation is drawn at 12fps.

Yeah, I agree, I wish he'd slow his stuff down. MUI foot blast jumping off Jiren's blasts was great, reminded me of his fight with Piccolo, when he did the Kamehameha from his feet, but unfortunately not a lot noticed it, you have to put it in slow motion or pause to notice. Also when base Gogeta was avoiding Broly's attacks, some really great looking art of him, that goes by way too quick, it's even hard to even pause it to where you want it at.

shida is the man. i really love his style of drawing but sometimes less is more. dont get me wrong. luffy gear4 or katakuri vs luffy, vergo vs trafalgar law or take anything from him. it is just superb animation. there is no way you can say its badly animated or the art is bad. but here is the buttt its shida style. he pushes to much detail in his work rhat the eyes can not comprehend it. mui goku surfing on jirens beams for example. you only see it on slow motion really. it doesnt mean that its bad that you have to rewatch a scene over and over again to see everything. but for the casual watcher his work goes unnoticed and the effort he put into his 2 minute animation are in vain. yet again one can argue is it really invain if he does it for his fans or the series he loves. well... i still get excited everytime i see shida stuff. great vid bro

I do agree he's kinda repetitive, but his movie works are god-tier, with completely original shots, but he does have his little animation ticks here or there.

Honestly, I enjoy Ryo Onishi a lot more. Whilst Shida is great, to me, his animation can be a bit stationary and or and tad stiff. Take for example Goku's fight with Hearts. When Goku was flying past the buildings, it looked extremely weird, especially when Goku was close to a building yet looked the same exact size of it. Or better yet, Vegito vs Zamasu. Those kicks Vegito was delivering had no weight and seemed so stiff in movement. Ryo Onishi should have a break down. Yuki Hayashi also. And yes, I know this was an artwork breakdown. But an animation breakdown of those guys would be awesome.

Shida is literally the BEST animator on the Super animation team. He is the reason I continued even watching that shit show called Dragonball Super. His fluid animation was exciting for me to see! And Yuya only being allowed stills was disappointing. If only they cancelled Super, and then gave it time to breathe, give Yuya and Shida the project to be directing the animation and designs... I can only imagine how orgasmic watching the original Z-style with the modern Shida animation.. My favorite animation from him wasn't even the Canon series, but Goku vs Hearts, where he does the kamehameha.. The best looking kamehameha I have ever seen!
