I don't think he'll lose at 126. I think many of the American casual boxing audience will really get to know who Naoya Inoue is. By the time Inoue retires, I see him fighting at super featherweight. He'll knock out a lot of the guys en route but we'll probably see more 12 round fights at featherweight and super featherweight. By the time Inoue retires, I think he'll be undefeated and thats after fighting in 6 different weight divisions.

I think inoue probably ending his career at 126 at age 35 because i think he said he doesnt want to fight over 35 yrs old. He might be waiting for the champions at 126 to fight for undisputed and by the time theres only 2 guys left he will probably move up to 126 and fight those 2 for undisputed and retire. 3 fights in 2025 for Inoue sounds about right. The fight with Goodman got pushed back so that's one off the books. But if Inoue decides to stay at 122, it make sense to have a warm up fight against a guy like MJ or Picasso before setting himself up against Junto Nakatani in Japan in Decemeber 2025. But I agree with you. I don't want Inoue to be wasting him time if he's not getting these big fights. That means either wait for Nakatani to come up and fight next year...or...move to featherweight and start taking on all the top dogs that have been calling him out like Brandon Figueroa, Angelo Leo and Rafael Espinoza. Those match ups are going to be fireworks of a fight. I saw a recent promo by ESPN that Inoue said that he'll be fighting more outside of Japan (mainly in the US) going forward. I think those fights will be best against the featherweight boxers in my honest opinion. Inoue the only guy that doesn't duck. Literally goes through all the best fighters in each division before moving up. I hope he moves up to 126 in 2025 or fight Nakatani.

If Junto was supposed to be Dec, now with a month delay with Goodman, hopefully Junto can be Jan or early 2026. He will eventually move to 126 and most likely retire there anyway. I think he's going to break Canelo's undisputed defenses of 4 before moving up against his mandatories and WBO no.2 with Doheny. He'll get critism now like all greats, but when his career is said and done, hopefully it will be appreciated then. Especially if his mandatories go on to win titles after he vacates.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I think all or most of his fights after the Goodman fight are out of Japan. I think the Nakatani fight is the best and biggest it can be if it’s in Japan. I think it’s good too since we can see more of Nakatani as he fights competition that gets better and better. I think Nakatani needs to continue building his name and record before fighting Inoue.

One thing I noticed on the internet media is that Japanese boxing communities are very protective of Inoue. Nothing wrong w/ it but the sentiment I get is that a lot of people prefer Inoue not risking loss and retire as undefeated. Hey Inoue is already great and he can do whatever he wants to do but maybe his own country man fan base opinion is influencing his camps decision makings to prioritize perfect record over taking a big leap. One for fact, is that in 2023, Inoue did mention that he'd move up to 126 by the end of 2024 but he changed his plan and decided to stay 122 for one more year after bout w/ Nery. Maybe he's peaking out and hitting plateau earlier than he anticipated. Who knows

Hey man, keep up the great content, love from TX! It looks like Inoue vs Picasso is will be fought in America in 2025, but I agree with you in that this is a massive waste of time for Inoue. I actually think that after Goodman, I think that the only valid option for him at 122 (unless Junto moves up) is MJ. Inoue vs MJ in America would do higher numbers I believe, and a win over MJ would solidify his WIPEOUT of 122 lbs. Even if Junto moves up and the fight is set, it's possible that the weight-draining for Inoue may catch up to him during their bout. I agree with you in that Inoue should move up to featherweight fairly soon. I hope that his last fight in 2025 is at featherweight since he'll A) soon be out of his prime (if he isn't already), and B) he'll have no more competitive fights at 122.
