The reason so many black fighters, promoters, trainers, and fans thought Fulton would win was because most if not all had never seen much of Inoue's fights. Most had seen at least a little of Fulton train, fight, or in and around. Many knew him personally. I as a BM had seen every fight of Inoue's, and many times. I'd seen many of his sparring a training sessions. I knew the guy was not only undisputed at 118 lbs, but had fought 19 CONSECUTIVE championship fights, all of which I had seen at least once. I knew he'd stop Fulton late, and for me it was a no brainer. Giving credit to Fulton for going over there to fight is hypocritical. Foreign fighters have been coming to the US to defend or gain their titles for years while given little credit by American boxing fans. Yet as soon as an American goes overseas and loses, it's now a factor. As for Fulton's size, when you have such a wide stance it negated any size advantage Fulton might have had. To say he'd never fought anyone like Inoue, there is no one like Inoue. What kept Fulton off balance from the start, aside from Inoue's speed, accuracy, and activity, was the fact that Inoue kept his front foot available to Fulton. Inoue intentionally placed his foot in that position. During the early rounds Fulton kept stepping on Inoue's foot and it completely through off Fulton's rhythm and timing. He couldn't find the range for his jab. After the ref warned him about stepping on Inoue's foot in the 2nd round it remained in Fulton's mind. Also in that 2nd round was the first clean shot that Fulton felt from Inoue. By the 6th round Inoue moved his foot more to the inside, but the damage had already been done. Fulton feared going toe to toe, and the body shots had started to accumulate. In the early 8th round Inoue had already hit Fulton with his second hard body shot. All fight long Inoue had tried the right hand up top after the left to the body. When Inoue hit with that third shot to the body and Fulton's hands dropped to defend, the fight was over. Fulton had traded 2 belts for 3 million dollars.

Thank you you guys for your honest, accurate analysis and giving Inoue the credits he deserves for he is a humble killing machine. I am sure Fulton is a great boxer but in watching his wins against different fighters before his match with Inoue, I never felt that he had as much power, speed or slickness as he appears to claim. Inoue is not as big as Manny Pac-Man but his power, speed are either as good or better and he is way more accurate and way more technical than Manny, never waste any punches, his punches land accurately on targets most of the time. Many of the trash talks coming from Fulton’s fans about Inoue has not fought anyone great, a hype job, being praised for doing things because Inoue is Japanese and etc….including Fulton claiming he is faster, longer reaches and how he beats every fighters at their own games and crap were because they haven’t really watched and study as to why Inoue earns the nick name “ the monster Inoue”. So many previous fighters, taller and bigger than Inoue said negative things about the man before their fights felt his power during the fights and lost badly and painfully. All admitted after the fights they did not see many things coming lol. It also appeared Fulton’s team did their homework on Inoue late prior to the fight and realized holy shit this dude’s power is for real and thus came up with that BS hand wrapped stuff. I remember as things are being translated into Japanese at the pre fight conference, Inoue was laughing and talking to the person sitting next to him and I am sure he was saying “ if they think wrapping my hands the way I do gives me the power, Fulton is going be in for a brutal awakening lol”. His hands get wrapped the way they do is to protect his wrists because his hits are so powerful silly. We all could see Fulton felt Inoue’s power after the first round but it was too late to do anything about it and none of his game plan worked and therefore he was fighting scared most of the rounds almost like Paul Butler, never engaged. The jabber got out jabbed. Fulton’s lost proved Donaire was a much tougher and better fighter for he was able to hurt Inoue multiple times including fracturing his orbital, broke his nose before loosing in the first fight. In addition, Inoue proved he is adaptable to other fighters’ skills once he fights someone and that was why it was a walk in the park for him in the rematch with Donaire. Rumor about Fulton wanting a rematch will prove to a big mistake. I agree with the common comment made by others that we should not made a big deal about Fulton accepting the fight in Japan because so many other foreign fighters have been coming to America for years to defend their titles and no one seems to care about that. Fulton would never made the 3 million dollars plus had he not accepted the fight in Japan. He knew what he was doing. His only mistake was he underestimated Inoue. A bigger mistake was his coach publicly disrespected Inoue during the conference before the fight. The team should have brought up the concern(s) privately with the boxing commissioner(s) before signing the contract and etc….They must not know about Japanese culture. Honor is such a big deal in their country. They would rather kill themselves than bring shame to their country and family by doing anything illegal in any sport or anything. Hopefully Fulton’s painful loss will teach him to be a more humble fighter. Mike Tyson is considered one of the best boxers in the USA. He was also known to be the beast or monster, feared by so many tall, and bigger fighters. So many great fighters lost when standing in Mike’s presence in the ring. He gave Inoue the appropriate props during one of his interviews. It takes one to know one. Mike is a monster and knows one when he sees one lol. Inoue will go on to achieve many more titles and belts. We just won’t be able to predict how far or what will be his weight limit (up to 130 lbs division perhaps?) only time will tell. We just need to enjoy his generation talent for now. Never underestimate your opponents and never disrespect Japanese warrior lol.

That wide stance in the beginning rounds was Fulton trying some shady cheap tactic of Fulton stepping on the feet and fireing a shot off. He was preoccupied doing that . After round four , Fulton abandoned that and fought with a balanced stance. Fulton need to get rid of his trainer. The dude embarrassed Philadelphia with his ignorance of hand wrap rules. Glove acceptance was another black eye for the match.

@@littlewing5271 Yeah, that makes it about 5 million for Fulton. And they'll get some additional money for their share of the PPV income. So, fighting in Japan was a really good thing for Fulton. If heh ad fought in the US, he would've probably made about a fifth of this money, and he would've found his home crowd to be more hostile than the Japanese crowd once he was beaten up like he was. @@RingKingsPodcast Good point. But you have to understand that Americans are really blessed that you guys have many boxing venues in your country. In Japan, there are no arenas that are exclusively reserved for boxing (there are some shaggy little ones) . Because boxing matches are decided through a series of negotiations, there's no way to know the exact date of the bout long before it happens, which makes the booking of an arena very difficult. About the Inoue/Fulton fight, Inoue's promoters wanted to do it in a bigger arena on weekends, but it just wasn't possible because such arenas were already booked for about two years into the future. Then do it in America, you might say. But they have made more money in Japan than they ever could've in the US despite the smaller arenas and having the bouts on weekdays. Mr. Ohashi, head of Inoue's gym and his chief promoter clearly stated that they could've easily sold out a stadium of 50,000 (15,000 tickets were sold out in 3 hours) and that they're looking forward to do so in the future. As to how they're gonna do it, I don't know. On the other hand, there is speculation that Inoue's going to fight in the US next year (the source is Steve Kim, who says he heard it from Bob Arum) .

@clubeyxander5132
@clubeyxander5132 10 ай бұрын
Actually, in the weigh-in, when Fulton's trainer accused Inoue of illegally stacking his tapes, the translator didn't translate the words right, so Inoue didn't understand what they were saying. But over night he found out they had accused him of cheating, and that really pissed him off. This was the first time he openly addressed his anger in public before a match and shows such a typical stare down (he's never done that) . Jamie McDonnell also pissed Inoue off by being a hour late for the weigh-in and not apologizing but rather saying the delay was nothing. He later stated his dislike for such disrespect after the fight. When he fought Manny Rodriguez, Inoue's father was shoved off by Rodriguez's trainer in a training session, but when he was asked how he felt about the incident before the fight, he replied that his job was to show it in the ring, not outside of it. So, I guess Fulton's team did a real good job pissing him off, of course, to no avail. If anything, his past bouts with McDonnell and Rodriguez have shown that Inoue gets extra mean and brutal without losing his head when he's provoked and pissed off. The fight with Fulton was no different.

I'm guessing that Inoue's team including his team spent hundreds of hours going through Fulton's tapes, and hundreds more figuring out and practicing tactics to destroy him. Somehow Fulton's coach didn't seem to be the studying kind, and Fulton himself with his absurd over-confidence probably didn't match Inoue's practice intensity.

Inoue and his team is not widely known to excessively study videos of their opponents. Inoue clearly said he's seen only one video of Fulton and not even all of it. Inoue concentrates more on his faults, and how to better his present abilities rather than finding holes in his opponents. His team probably did more research than Inoue, though. In any case, Inoue and his team puts a lot a hours into the basics, repeating his routines, refining his best moves. Inoue has always said that adjusting to the opponent is not a good strategy because the opponent is going to fight yourself in the ring, not the guy in the video. If the opponent adjusts to Inoue by analyzing his videos, all he has to do is to do the things he did in the past better, says Inoue. He has also said that, though he will have an initial game plan, most of the strategy is drawn up in the ring after facing the opponent. He says he tries several things in the ring and shifts from plan to plan according to how the opponent responds and how the bout is going.

The reason why Fulton lost is because Inouye is the better boxer… in every phase of the game. Speed, power, accuracy, timing, placement, footwork, ring IQ. Inouye makes champions look like chumps, including the great Nonito Donaire in their second fight. Donaire said of the punch that ended their fight that it he did not even see it and that it was the hardest he’d ever been hit. 20 of Inouye’s 25 fights have been championship fights and he is 20-0 in those fights with 18 knockouts. His last 17 fights have been championship fights. He is a four-division champion and is one fight away from becoming the second two-division undisputed champion. And he is only now reaching his prime as a boxer. Shalom

The fight was NOT early in the AM, it started around 8PM. There is nothing that "needs to be done" about the fights in Japan. Why should anyone care if Americans are inconvenienced by the fight time? If there was actual interest in the fights at the lower weights then the wouldn't be made outside the US. The money is in Japan not the US so deal with the time schedules. Fulton deserves credit for fighting Inoue but NOT for going to Japan. No one ahs given any credit to Inoue for any of his 3 fights in the US nor his fight in the UK. Fulton shit himself with all his talk before the fight because he was drinking his own Kool-Aid. All his talk about there is NOTHING Inoue could do that he hasn't seen as a Philly fighter and he was ready for ANYTHING that Inoue will try. EMBARRASSED! Before the fight, I thought it will go the distance (possibly Fulton win) or Inoue will stop Fulton very late. After Fulton's trainer complaints about Inoue's wraps, I knew Fulton could be stopped mid fight. Rahim showed me he was expecting Fulton to get touched despite Fulton being slick and a defensive master with all that Philly exceptionalism.
