Fyi: Akhmadaliev claimed in a recent interview (Boxing News) that he was due a rematch with Tapales but that he agreed to step aside to let Tapales have the big fight with Inoue after he was given assurances (by the WBA, I guess) that he would be next in line to challenge for the belts. Inoue ended up beating Tapales last December and, characteristically, his team soon afterwards announced that they were looking for Inoue to fight three times the following year: May, September and December. The Saudis had already started talks with Inoue's team and a big money fight in Riyadh in September had been mooted. No doubt, the Sauds' Muslim brother, Akhmadaliev, would've been their choice fighter to face Inoue. So Akhmadaliev and his team must've had that September Riyadh Season fight in Riyadh in mind in their planning. Akhmadaliev, in the interview, goes on to claim that Inoue "avoided" fighting him by scheduling a fight with someone else instead (ie. Nery, in May). But Akhmadaliev must be lying bc he also goes on to say that he himself already had a fight lined up (opponent unnamed) for July. This would explain why Akhmadaliev was unavailable to fight Inoue in September, even though he would've still been one of the top options for Inoue's team to consider. The WBA were only rumoured to be considering ordering Akhmadaliev's mandatory shot but never officially did so. They must have been satisfied with Inoue's team's response. However, with the projected September Riyadh Season card in Riyadh ending up being ditched in favour of AJ's Wembley Stadium, and Inoue lined up to fight Nery in May, it was rumoured that Akhmadaliev was offered a fight with Liam Davies on the Wembley Riyadh Season card instead, but declined it - presumably in favour of the other fight he ended up lining up for July. Sam Goodman also already had a fight with the Thai in July when he went to see Inoue fight Nery, and jumped into the ring afterwards to give Inoue his ultimatum lol. And that would explain why Goodman couldn't make the September fight and asked Inoue's team to give him the December fight date instead. Clearly then, Akhmadaliev and Goodman were both unavailable to fight Inoue in September. Team Inoue's other option, Casimero, wasn't in the running bc he hadn't even got his comeback fight (after his hapless performance against the six-year inactive, semi-retired, former Champ, Oguni) lined up. So Doheny ended up getting the call up. Akhmadaliev goes on to say that he got a cut during his own (July) fight camp, pushing the fight back to August/September. Most people seem to be wanting, raging, for Inoue to fight Goodman or Akhmadaliev next, in December. Truth be told, though, neither guy represents really tough competition for Inoue. Really hope to hear him say that he's headed up to Feather in April/May after he beats whichever one of those guys. I hope Inoue ends up going for Akhmadaliev bc Goodman just had nothing to give Inoue a real fight. His broken hands are an accident just waiting to happen to derail the scheduled big US headlining fight in April/May - hopefully for Espinoza/Robeisy's WBO belt..

Akhmadaliev is FLAT FOOTED, he'll be KO'd by INOUE, the only question is in what Round. For me its 6-7th round.

@@laurencebinwag6963 Yeah, I don't really like MJ or Goodman, tbh. Personally, I'd much prefer to see Inoue vs popular Mexican fighter, WBC #1 David "Rey" Picasso, 29(16KOs)-0-1, who looked pretty impressive UDing Azat Hovhanissyan in his last fight. I hear Goodman is almost certain to be next, though. The Doheny fight was the first fight in a while Inoue hadn't sold out (95% sold), and I don't expect Goodman to be a bigger draw than TJ

@@mountainman077 Yeah, he's got a lot of promise and would give Inoue stronger competition if he were to continue growing, improving, meeting each other at Feather. Even now, though, I'd rather him get the opportunity to fight for all the belts and the money over the other two..

No Takuma is 2 years younger. Inoue has a cousin about 1 year or 2 years older. Heavier and taller.

I saw an interesting piece on a Japanese channel about a disadvantage Inoue had in adopting the high guard throughout the Doheny fight, especially in keeping his right hand up. They nicely demonstrated how, by keeping both hands lowered, Inoue can quickly feint with head movement which becomes the near-field focal range of his opponent's vision, diverting attention from the right hand shot coming a split second later which has been in peripheral vision. Ofc, Inoue had made a fundamental habitual mistake - which Nery's team had identified they could exploit in their film study, no doubt - in dropping his right hand that fatal moment. Seems in his determination to make good on his previous mistake, Inoue might have been a bit too cautious, though, by making his straight right a bit easier to get a read on, losing some of his characteristic spontaneity. By Inoue's own admission in an interview, he also "felt a bit 'heavy'" in the fight - after rehydrating by just over 16lb (13lb is his normal optimal limit). So that extra weight might have given his punches more power, but at the cost of his customary explosive speed/sharpness. Looked that way to a lot of people too. Only leaves me looking forward to seeing Inoue fight for Espinoza/Robeisy at Feather in April/May - back in full devastating effect.

No disrespect, I know that you know it already but you mix things up while you speak, especially names. Lol. This is for other people watching that might get the wrong information. He also got 48 ko's in those amateur wins. His 4th fight was Japanese national title, the 5th was the OPBF oriental pacific title. Fulton was unified champ, not undisputed. Unified = 2 belts, lineal = 3 belts, undisputed = all 4 belts. Takuma is the younger brother by 3 years and was 118 before Naoya. Teo and Bud happened at Canelo's fight, then Bud went to the UFC after. Canelo did win a real title in light heavy weight with the WBO in Kovalev fight, he didn't win a belt when he 1st started at 140 and 147. He got 1 at 154, 160, 168 and 175. And with Tank, he wants to retire after the 6 fights with fighters on his hit list so he can let the young fighters have a chance to shine. I can't to see how they finish the tail end of their careers.

One of the points I picked up on Inoue is how he moves his front foot using feints to either side of the opposition. He's the only fighter I can remember who fought 3 fights in a row against a southpaw.
