I love Vovin, and Theli is still my favorite, miss old Therion, was melancholy talking

Though Mats said that he left the band because he didn't want to just be one out of four singers and do backing vocals 3/4 of the time. So I guess he probably won't be back in the live line-up, unless his priorities shift somehow.

​@@desaturated-firefox, I may presume, that things might change since then. For some time he was frontman of Candlemass, but for quite some time he has no big band to be involved. And this is the opportunity to extend his legacy and make some money. Years are passing, we're all not becoming younger. A month ago it was still unimaginable, that Lori Lewis will back in the live line-up of the band. And today it's a reality. I guess it is more question of Christopher. If he wants to have 2x2 line-up. Since Snowy has left, he never try to find another second male vocalist. But we'll see. Therion is on the rise again. And they might need more strength. Only time will tell.

Mats' voice is too similar to Thomas' IMO, I can't really imagine that they would both be in the line-up at the same time. Maybe Mats could be a Thomas _replacement_ or something, but Thomas isn't likely to get pregnant anytime soon, so... we'll see.

Yeah, it seems they almost became Viking metal band lately. Pandemonic Outbreak was an awesome video clip at the time. From thereon each clip got less and less in my liking. I don't like theme based clips at all, I prefer to just see a band play in the clips.

@@desaturated-firefox I really don't know anything about making this type of video clips (where it's like a short film rather than just filming a bunch of guys headbanging while playing play back to their song). So unlike those pseudo experts who usually piss on everything on internet, I will be humble and say IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME that they have recycled a lot in those videos (appears to be same actors, same attributes etc). Which I ASSUME is a way of saving money and be able to do more clips with the same money. I could be totally wrong, maybe they just "made a Bathory" and entered a Viking Metal stage in their career. I guess we will find out with the coming clips (if there will be any). Maybe they will have a viking ship like Amon Amarth on stage for the next tour - time shall tell.

How I really missed hearing Mats Leven back with Therion, has ever been and guess will always be one of the most perfect combinations for me adds an extra something I lacked , mainly since Snowy left as well, even though Therion kept on with amazing vocalists. Now let me say that even if Mats Leven is not part of any other song, If Leviathan III follows even remotely close what is presented in this song in the remaining song quadrants it will definitely surpass for me the first Leviathan as my favorite album since Gothic Kaballah, which is still one of my favorites.

Gothic Kabbalah is legendary album, but very underrated in the mass sadly. And Mats... He is perfect match for Therion. I also hope that in Leviathan III will be at least one more song with Mats, but I feel it will be strong album anyway. And maybe we'll be lucky enough to witness Mats once again live with Therion. That's just a dream, but who knows😅

I miss the presence of Kristian Niemann on guitar. His playing brought a beautiful voice to the band. This is still incredible and I will listen to the new album. Miss that guutaring though!

I see a lot of complaints in the comments, but this is still really good quality music in my opinion, I just don't think it helps them that they've made some of the all time best music in the genre, so it's difficult for each release to reach that standard. I'd say that if this was a different band who never reached those heights this would possibly be better received.

This must be the first time you read the comments to a new Therion release. No other band on the planet have more wining *ssholes for fans than they do. Whatever they do, there will be someone who is desperatly unhappy and has to write some emotional rant on what record are the "real Therion" and that their dog died because the new song was so bad. Personally I only like their death metal stuff (and some occasional songs later), but I'm a big boy and can handle it that they took a different path than what I would have wished. But I'm always fashinated to see what they are cooking for each album (call it an academic interest in the music).

Or maybe I notice them less because they're so repetitive (same as under every new Therion video) that I filter them out mentally...

@@desaturated-firefox I think you are for sure correct. Both that there actually seems to be less complaints. And about me. Besides always being irritated on people that gives the entire metal community a bad name by being infantile, I'm mostly interested talking to people who give some sort of description of the nature of songs they comment to that makes me want to know more - or question their judgement. By some reason those are mainly negative. With Therion it's probably extra clear as analyzing the music is my own primary interest in hearing anything Therion did the last 14 albums (15 if we count the coming one). I only enjoy their early stuff. But as a musician and especially as a song writer my self, I have a fascination with the band and the progress. If they would have continued to use death metal vocals instead of opera voices, I would have really liked many songs in the post death metal period (like Din on Sitra A, what a surprise and treat that was!). Like this song. The second part of the song is doomed (pun intended!) in my taste no matter what, but the first half... death metal vocals in the verses would have made it a 10/10 part.

@@hubbabubba9695 It's true, people who like what they see and hear mostly just comment something you can't really respond very much to. Maybe the reason is that when something bothers you it automatically stands out, but when it's good you just see the whole. A negative impression seems to bring out the analyst in people more (not always a very skilled analyst). I'll try to write a more in-depth version of how I see the nature of the song even though I like it: I was at first pretty surprised by all the different parts it has. It's like the first half is one song and the second is at least two different ones, with a short return of the first song when the chorus is repeated. The drum interlude and its return with the men's choir at the very end seem to belong together as the second song, and the more elated and soaring rest with the opera singing is the third song. I also thought that the song doesn't sound "apocalyptic" at all like I would expect in a song about Ragnarök. It sounds adventurous and exciting, but also kinda cheerful and light-hearted, not like the world is ending. But after a few repetitions and some thinking about it I got this mental image of a group of people (maybe in ancient times, maybe more recently) sharing mythological stories around a campfire in the evening and their collective imagination slowly, as the song builds up, taking them to another plane of consciousness while they talk about the universe, the gods, while they imagine all these fantastical events. Kind of like the song is a bit meta, it's about a telling of the story of Ragnarök, not the event itself. The lyrics are also written in the past tense, which creates a certain distance from the narrative and makes me feel even more like I'm supposed to feel that I'm hearing a story, not like Ragnarök is currently happening. This is all really subjective of course, but I'm not a songwriter and can't really comment on the technical aspects - and maybe those are what you were interested in discussing. But it's actually fun to type this kind of thought out. It just usually gets ignored when I post something like this, so I mostly don't bother. But I also wish there were more comments that show that people are actually thinking about what they're hearing.
