It feels like the band is shedding more and more of their former skin of Groove and Metalcore. And under that skin is what Jinjer would actually look and sound like. Jinjer has always been breaking the rules when it comes to Metal music. They have combined Metal with Alternative, Jazz, Ska and more. But here is why I think this is song is their biggest innovation yet: They went completely against the dark, dire and serious image that is so deeply embedded into Metal music. It is also a step forward compared to "Micro". The whole vibe of this song is lighthearted, self-ironic and full of reggae elements, but it's still metal! 1:36 - 1:46 is a good example of what I mean. We talk about bands that are "ahead of the curve", that define their own style, become unriveled masters of it and eventually inspire dozens of bands in later generations to adapt their style. We saw it with Pantera, we saw it with Gojira and we are seeing it with Jinjer right now! In a few years Jinjer will be legends! And they 100% earned it!

Holy shit a love reaction from napalm! Absolutely agree with you, I was thinking this very thing the first time around. I cant help but find myself confusingly headbanging with a giant grin on my face. I LOVE that they're experimenting so much and breaking the "status quo". Shitty bubblegum pop mixed with metal? I usually like bands mixing many different genres with metal but this shit is totally lame. Plus I looked up more stuff by this poppy only to find out that she is a manufactured KZbin star that was turned into some robot like person and uses what a majority of pop, rap and hip hop artists use which is this autotune singing. Her act is a music industry creation that is total garbage but for some stupid reason more people are watching and listening to Poppy and praising Poppy more than Jinjer. Tatiana Shmaylyuk already has a very low opinion of humanity based on what has been going on in the world especially in her country, Ukraine but I am sure she and countless other musicians hate the mainstream music industry for their creation of this kinda manufactured garbage and hate it even more that this manufactured garbage is getting a large fan base. This song by Jinjer in this video is appropriate because I am judging this music and their fans and my punishment for me is that I listened to this music by Poppy that made me upset about this stuff which probably knocked of a few weeks or a year or more of my life expectancy. That is my Punishment which is to make me die a little sooner with torturing myself last Saturday by listening to several videos of that WTF stuff.

I'm 55 yo single female and a MASSIVE FAN!! It's a great way to figure out who's got the same tastes as me because I love ALL music from many genres but Jinjer is right up there with Rush in my opinion
@ericpeterson7512 Жыл бұрын
I'm right there with ya sister! I've been calling Jinjer my modern day Rush--and I've seen Rush in concert 36x between 1978 and their very last show in 2015 in Los Angeles. As a professional bassist/singer myself, I appreciate progressive songs that are challenging to learn, and Jinjer songs are AT LEAST AS CHALLENGING on bass as Rush songs! The musicianship in Jinjer is on the level of what I consider the greatest band in the history of rock music. I also appreciate their dedication, passion, drive and energy in concert. They're road warriors. So what are your favorite Rush songs? I have almost too many to mention, I love all their songs. But I tend to favor the heavier Rush songs (and maybe not the heaviest of the Jinjer songs lol). Some standouts for me are Natural Science, Hemispheres, 2112, Double Agent, Stick It Out, By-Tor and the Snow Dog, Xanadu, Caravan, YYZ. In Jinjer I've finally found a band that's progressive enough for me, heavy enough for me, and has enough different genres blended together lol. Plus they were my gateway drug to the world of harsh vocals! I guess my favorites tend to follow my path of discovery. I only discovered them less than a year ago, so I have the full catalog to draw on lol. Pisces, Vortex, Judgement & Punishment, On the Top, Just Another, Home Back, I Speak Astronomy. Now that I'm hip to the world of harsh vocals, and I've learned several of Eugene's bass lines, I'm getting into the heavier tunes, like Ape, Dreadful Moments, Colossus, Noah, Call Me a Symbol, As I Boil Ice. I love the variety. Rock on girl! Maybe I'll see you at a Jinjer show! I have tickets for one so far. I expect I'll grab one for the Disturbed/Jinjer tour too. I think it's awesome that chicks are fully invading rock n' roll these days. My daughter is into Jinjer too. And Rush! She saw them 16x herself!

This is one, sick, dope-ass jam. The vid is just completely entertaining, all the while delivering SUCH a great message, and the beginning of the song is an absolute breath of fresh air, but then, the groove at 2:47 is SOOOOO Jinjer, and then it rolls into the groove at 3:01- well... that groove is just stupid sick. Gotdamn this band just keeps cranking it out. Unreal.

Please somebody explain what that "booya" means, and where that expression came from... I'm dying to see what kinda of comments thread this originates... 😎😉
@j.f.fisher53185 жыл бұрын
@@fonsecorona my understanding based on researching Tati's nickname "Tatiana Booyaka" is that booyaka is a Jamaican word describimg the muzzle blast and supersonic crack of a gunshot. Booya is the short version. Basically it means "boom!" Throwing the word into the song is fan service.

@@j.f.fisher5318 There ya go....That's one on-point and interesting explanation. The reason I was asking is I'm pretty sure I've heard that expression before, and I believe it might've been in one of those good'ol reggae songs by Bob Marley....Either his or any of his so many fellow jamaican reggae artists' we've been hearing from since back in the 70's...But I wasn't sure...Didn't know the exact meaning, but I'm positive I heard that expression before.. Anyway, thank you Jeffrey, for your insightful and timely reply. By the way, up until now, I was pretty convinced Tatiana and, in some instances, Eugene as well, were sporting fashionable dreadlocks, in the style of bands like Korn or RATM, or so many others, back in the early days of Jinjer, but now I'm more inclined to think they were just showing an affinity to Mr Marley, rather than following a badass metal-rocker-look fad....Then again, I might be wrong..Who knows...
