Napoleonic Miniatures Painting Guide: Italian 5th Regt. Centre Company

Hi everyone, here is a guide to knocking out 28mm Napoleonic Italian miniatures quickly. The uniform facings vary by regiment (this is the 5th regt.), but the white uniform and fixtures and fittings will be the same across the Italian line infantry regiments.
The miniatures are Perry 28mm plastic French from the 1807-1814 set, as the Italians used French uniforms in their own colours.

Very cool! I'm a beginner and I paint 1/72 figures with contrast paints. After the first shading I tried to drybrush the white highlights like you did here but I'm struggling with that, especially the amount of paint that stays on the brush without smearing. Sometimes I'm too careful, then nothing stays with the figure and then I'm too generous and mess up the shades.

It's tough to get the perfect amount of paint on the brush. Having a piece of plastic sprue or wooden lollipop stick to practice on before applying to the model is usually how I gauge if I have the right amount.

Great video as usual. In your initial wash is that 3 parts light tone or 3 parts quickshade medium?

1 part Light Tone, 3 parts Quickshade Mixing Medium. Sorry if that wasn't clear!
