Hey Kinks! Quick Correction and update! I kept saying I had the Revlon blow dryer on "medium" but what I meant to say is "low". Throughout the session I had it on "low" and sporadically it would feel like its on "high". Also the cool setting of the Red Kiss pro is cooler then the Revlon. I feel it is important to have a hair dryer that allows you to control the temperature of the heat and speed at which is comes out. Also I think it's important to have more then one way to apply the dryer meaning (in reference to the Rev) I don't think it's healthy for my hair if I have to use the brush every time I want to blow dry. With the Red Kiss I often times use just the concentrator more then the comb attachment. I don't have this option with the Revlon. I did return this dryer and will just stick to my Red Kiss pro. The Red Kiss allow same to have better control over my blow drying. The Revlon was easy to use, lightweight, gave me the most stretch but at a greater risk. Therefore it didn't make the cut.

I just tried the Revlon Brush Dryer on Friday and like most users I was definitely impressed. While I wish it had more temperature controls, I’m still loving it and will just turn it off while twisting the sections after drying. I love how light weight it was and my arm didn’t have time to hurt because the drying time was so fast. Definitely a keeper for me. I’m a fan of blow drying my 4C hair as it makes it more manageable and I have a lot less breakage than I have when worn in a shrunken state. Keep the videos coming I always get a good laugh and laughter does the body good😊

I loved using this tool. One thing I did to lower the manipulation on my hair was to just use the tension method and hold my hair in my hand while just moving the dryer along my hair shaft without brushing. Once it's half way dry, I'll start moving the brush through. It was the easiest I time I've ever had blow drying and my hair was longer than it's ever been. Plus it had been over a year with no blow out (over 4 years with no straightening) and my hair blew out with ease. I wouldn't use it regularly, but once every other month would be fine with me.

I’ve had this dryer for about 2 years now. The first year, I was in love with it and used it regularly (about once a month) for stretch styles. After that year, I noticed my ends were severely thinned out and had a major set back in my length retention. I had to cut off quite a few inches to get my ends back to regular health. Now, if I want a high level stretch using heat, I will go back to my original trusted method, which is more similar to Green Beauty’s actually. Tension method on lower heat settings (i had the same issues with controlling the temp on the revlon) and I don’t even bother blowing out my ends anymore. I just stop about 2-3 in from the bottom, and you can’t even tell the difference tbh because usually I’m not flat ironing afterwards. Btw, I am 4c, Low-po, so my hair does well stretched. I’ve grown it back to mid-back length since my set back with the revlon.
@acynder6 жыл бұрын
J C hi. So I’m 4c and have not retained length in years. I. Guessing just breakage from such coarse tangly kinky hair. I have low porosity and I think I want to start the blow dried and stretched only journey. Have you found that keeping you hAir stretched or blow dried has helped with retaining length? When I do this, I don’t get the ends fully stretched so I’m wondering, is it still gonna just break at the ends and this whole stretching idea won’t make a difference? If keeping hair stretched has worked for you, how do? What kind of styling do you do? Thanks for any info. I’ve thought I was doing well with my hair for years but have no length to show for it.
@Crawfordsfive6 жыл бұрын
CeeCee hi! So to answer your question.. I do think that keeping my hair moderately stretched has helped, yes, because I find that I am detangling less often than I would with like wash n go styles. So there is less manipulation. But it is not the only factor that contributes, because sometimes, I just twist my hair in medium sections after washing and leave it in the twists throughout the week. And then there are even times when I only shot-blast blow dry (lol, not sure what to call it🤷🏾♀️) but that’s when after having my twists in for a while and I want to take them down, I’ll only blow dry my roots and midway down the shaft in the back and middle on my head, just to show a little length. I literally just turn it on for a few seconds.. I think the key things are keeping it moisturized and leaving it alone for as long of periods as you can. And don’t worry about your ends being blow dried unless you plan on straightening. Good luck on your hair journey!!👍🏾
@sable71145 жыл бұрын
@@acynder I also keep those ends moisturized. I like to put Jamaican black castor oil on my ends more frequently than I actually oil my hair.

CeeCee I’m late but I go to my stylist and get it washed conditioned and blow dried to trim my ends and then do my mini twists that may help you with length retention also I use Beautiful Textures whipped Shea butter cream, S curl no drip and Hawaiian Silky and when I tell you my hair has grown amazingly that’s to say the least so I would try to do protective styles but also use products like this because they are humectants think about people back in the day that had Jheri curls I’m just saying(long hair)... idk if it will work for you but I know it has for me girl and I have kinky curly hair not to mention it’s sandy which is a whole other beast lol hope this helps you retain some length also drink water and stay on top of your moisture! Keep those ends trimmed every 6-8weeks I’m telling you what has worked for me

Hi Nappyfu! I have had this dryer for almost two years; it took me a year before I was brave enough to try it on my hair. I loved the results, but it's been almost a year since I've used it again, not because of damage or anything, but because I was hanging on to some damaged ends that I refused to cut from when I dyed my hair,, and the dryer was not kind to them. I finally let them go last night, and I will be trying the dryer again after my wash day to clean up my ends (I cut them using the twist method). Thank you for sharing this video; I like the control of a dryer like Red, but they are a little too heavy for me to handle with the attachment with my short arms. So Revlon it is--sparingly, with lots of heat protectant!

After I wash my hair I do the LCO method but I switch the vegetable oil with a heat protectant. At the moment I use Silken Seal liquid sheen by Kera Care and Oléo-Relax nutritive oil by Kerastase (it’s a French brand but can be found on Amazon). I stretch my hair with curlformers. I use an Ionic hairdryer now as opposed to a regular one which has stopped that bone dry feeling I used to have. Now my hair is completely dry under 35 minutes using a medium to low heat . When it gets too hot I lower the heat level and back up so it’s never too hot. Then I finish off with the cool setting. I put my hair in chuncky twists and reapply some moisturising cream on my ends if necessary. The next day my hair still feels moist so I can go ahead with a protective style. When before I would have had to do the whole LC all over because my hair used to feel straw like. Side note: As I am long and Luxe range also helped in keeping a good moisture level 👌🏾

I want to get a new blow dryer and this is one I’ve been looking at cause it’s cheap, easy and fast. But the temperature/force issue is a deterrent.

This is the best review, straight to the point and showed key features. I think I will pass on buying this brush. Thanks!

I have been natural for 5 years and use consistently in my daily routines however I only brow dry maybe 5 times at the most in a year and flat iron 2 times a year. I only use the blow dryer brush but the shop uses the comb attachment for my flat iron. I think it’s amazing that I can blow it out as fast as the shop and I don’t know what I’m doing. Not to mention, my curls are tight as can be and I am tender headed seriously because of it texture and length. I am happy you finally decided to try it for yourself. It does do wonders if you new to the blow drying to straighten yourself and it’s cost efficient. Ijs

Thank you NappyFu!!!! I bought me the Kiss blowdryer and was able to use it tonight. I held it the way you do and blow dried my hair in about 15-20 minutes. Now I can comb my hair before the shrinkage kicks in...Thank you so much for sharing with us as you do, especially as there are not many videos with our type of hair texture.. I thank you again and I appreciate what I learn from you..I got my Kiss at Walmart.

Probably the most comprehensive review, I've seen on this product. Great job Nappyfu and although I haven't tried it yet, I'll probably end up trying it. I wonder if you'll try that new $400+ dryer everyone is losing their minds over? lol

I don't plan on trying the revlon brush. I don't like how thin it made your hair look in comparison to the Red Kiss side. Thank you for the review though! I was curious.

I used to use a dryer like that when I was wearing my hair straight. I would use it to blow dry my hair before I flat ironed it and would always have a fantastic experience. Plus I was saving money by doing my own hair rather than head out to the salon. Once I went natural, I gave up all of my tools but didn't think to use it for my natural hair. Thanks for the video!

Me and my mom both love the revlon dryer. I keep it on low first and then bump up the heat when I do each section. It’s pain free and it doesn’t kill my hands and wrists with the weight. It’s easy to maneuver. Also no more broken brush heads. I have some thick, tangle loving hair, and we’d constantly have to get new brush heads. The bristles on the paddle brush are very durable and gentler to my hair. So, I love it. I’ve personally never had a problem with heat on my hair. I did not enjoy perms because I could see that they damaged my scalp and made my hair weaker. People just stopped straightening by other means, so eventually it became untenable for me as an adult with little to no hair styling skills to attempt. So I went natural and learned how to competently put on wigs and style a little puff or twist out.

I want to try it but scared I will get addicted to blow drying my hair. I stretch using the banding method. Main reason why u do not blow dry often is because I just haven't found the combination to prevent my hair from feeling dry

hi my lovely melanin sis from another mother. i truly appreciate this review as i was undecided as to which to purchase for my daughter"s hair, she is still my baby how ever its so difficult to style her hair, i got away with braids in the past, she is getting older though and i want her to embrace more styles for her lovely hair, she is to be in a bridal train soon and i had to decide between relaxing her hair or styling up her hair using healthier and safer method. this really helped. thank you love. have a blessed and fulfilling week.

Was always curious about the Revlon dryer. This video answered a lot of questions. Think I'll try it.

My hair snags on the bristles that have round balls at the end and all that brushing is more work than Im willing to do so I have no interest in trying it. Im glad to see how it worked for you.

The Knot Dr. Dryer Brush Infiniti Pro by Connor is a great dryer also. It looks similar to the Revlon One Step. It has similar results on my all over 4C hair, high porosity, thin strand hair. I love it.

I have the Revlon dryer but I only use it when I want to stretch my hair for trimming. Love it!

You uploaded, yes!!! I'm scared of direct heat, I have fine hair so i'm not going to play with no blow dryers or flat irons. If for some reason I want my hair very stretched I do 2 braid outside or twist outs back to back. It's a bit of a chore, but it gets the job done and it's fun to do. Thanks for the sincere review! The Revlon seems to save a lot of time to sis with longer hair, like Helen Lucka. Time saving + super stretch = hype!

I only have a handful of hair. I am not one of the naturals with thick luxurious hair. I don't get my hair as straight with the rev as you did. I don't know what I am doing wrong but my kinks have a black power rally while I am drying other portions of my hair.

NappyFu My whole head is a cool shot when I use that Revlon brush. I have seen heat damage on a few youtubers who used it and I wasn't taking any chances. It's definitely a time saver but at what cost.

We missed you! I do not blow dry my hair at all, I’ve had my hair pressed maybe twice in 4 years. I may try this new dryer for my hair during the summer instead of a wig or anything.

OMG! This video was hilarious! You definitely know how to keep people entertained. I’m going to order the Le Angelique Brush N’ Blo and see how it goes. I bought a Babyliss Pro one for $180.00 and it doesn’t dry my hair they way I need it. I need to re-up on my Revlon 1875 one.
