some constructive critism from what narc has shown of the flying mount in the start: I think GW2 griffin mount feels better when it comes to speed and maneuvering, for example when narc flies directly down and gains speed, the griffin in AoC doesnt seem to build up speed and just magicly "breaks" or slows down, at least too fast, when there should be alot of speed build up when you dive, making it hard to break immediatly when changing course from diving to normal flight. The flying is really incredible in GW2, and i hope AoC will look to them when polishing their flying and gliding design. Noone in the mmo space does mounts better than GW2 imo.

the New Aela node when it is Winter and Night looks like a Christmas town because of how lit up the tree is as you are coming down the road toward town. I loved it. Its too bad it was daytime in the video when you flew there.

No flying is really good choice. Flying is just kills all interactions so it is a beautiful world with no one is walking around. Everyone is going to jump to the place to do daily etc. And gone. Like wow.

Not everyone can get flying mounts (he literally said that at the start of the video), they are reserved for mayors and i think guild leaders, normal players can only have normal mounts, sea and ground with the exception of some that can glide small hops.

As a board game publisher, we can appreciate the million and one behind the scenes things that happens at a games company. It took us almost 3yrs to get our board game published since we were a small indie company back in 2021, so we can only imagine how difficult a video game would be, especially an MMO. Nothing has made me think the project is a scam. It’s just a slow project, which we can relate too. It sucks for the community I know, and I wish this game was coming to market much faster so I could get in on the action, but this Alpha 2 footage so far surely affirms that this is a legit game on its way. From their point of view, they will want the game out there ASAP because a project not launched, usually costs an awful lot more money than a launched project. I wish their team the best in completing the project and look forward to seeing its progress towards a proper launch. As always Narc, thanks for the content ❤

i really dislike the idea of flying mounts in a game like this. mayors will just be streamers... what about them just loading up on supplies and flying back and forth? next to no risk arbitrage/trade. i really wish streamers weren't a thing as a game like this will just devolve into streamer vs streamers and anyone who has spent time getting a following gets a massive ingame advantage. i get there's no perfect way to solve that, more just i think flying mounts should not be in addition to it. a cool as fuck special looking ground mount that's maybe a tad faster or carries an extra person? sure. but this would be game changing

I actually have to say I loved the winter here more than the autumn. And I am not irl fan of winter. I think they just have to add snow and snowing weather/ snowstorms and the vibe will be there. But just seeing the different vibe of two seasons...I am so hyped, plus the idea that people would have to wait half a month to month to farm stuff they need, this the gatekeeping we need, not what they do nowadays in mmos !

If there are going to be an extremely limited number of flying mounts in the game, they should add a couple randomly spawning Pegasus eggs or something so that people who aren't guild leaders have a shot at experiencing it. Have them only last 10 days or something and only have a few in existence on a server at one time. If the spawn locations were random, this could be a huge reward for someone exploring weird places. Or it could have an extremely low drop chance on every mob in the game that scales based on the number of flying mounts currently existing on the server.

In my experience, the open world dungeons are challenging and rewarding places that help support organic interaction as well as connection building between players (those both unfamiliar and familiar with each other) in the open world. I've made several connections and had memorable interactions with all sorts of players for all sorts of reasons at the Church of Seven Stars and the Ursine Caves in only several hours of play.😄 I've enjoyed watching your videos Narc and have enjoyed/had fun playing this alpha.💗 🌄💚

I don't understand the hype. It's still just an almost empty sand box after 8 years of development. If you enjoy running around in an empty but beautiful world, you can do that in almost every other open world AAA game with an oversized map. I'd be mad if I'd support a developer team with hundreds of dollars with thousands of other players and after 8 years this would be the result. Sure there is and there would be a lot of potential in the game but being too biased with little to zero skepticism ain't doing anything great for the gamer community. Game development as a service (without a final base product) just sounds absurd and shouldn't be normalised.

Add a few years of polish and more assets to make all the locations pop. Imagine all the other biomes as you transition over the content in your flying mount. The changing seasons add so much more playability. I like the fact that this World is going to be so big. I genuinely hope they add better dynamic weather. Rainstorms with lighting effects, Sandstorms, Blizzards, and deep fog in the early morning rise of the rivers, lakes, and fields. Total emersion in the environment and World.

I am curious how you feel about no lifers turning Ashes into a souless grind off, and large zerg guilds like Actual Pirates? both have really kinda bummed me out, the no lifers for obvious reasons, and the zergs because it makes me feel like a normal average Joe and their group of friends could never be mayor or really have any influence in the game? Pirates is building a 1500 player guild on a 8-10k capacity server... Does that seem a bit far for you? One guild having influence over 20% of players?

No. (Well. In the scientific nodes yes since those are chosen by vote) but the other nodes have vastly different criteria.

@@powerplays454 i am very uninformed when it comes to this game, so if my questions are well known, my bad. that raises some questions from me then. 1. how many nodes will there be total / how many are they shooting for at launch, roughly. 2. how many will be chosen by vote ( zerg guild leaders ) / how many wont be, and 3. have they mentioned the criteria for the other nodes / some examples? because if it is anything like how many donations of resources you have made for example, that also leads to a zerg guild / zerg alliance leader ending up as the mayor. any criteria where having numbers way higher than others leads to the rank, would fit into the same thing as voting imo. I am not necessarily looking for a lottery system, as that would be terrible, but at least some reasonable way for smaller guilds who intend to stay small elite guilds / groups, having a chance for one of them to be mayor, would be great. some examples would be: 1v1 pvp tournaments until the end person is revealed. i guess there could even be a pve one where there could be some sort of extreme pve challenge limited to X amount of players can complete faster / better than others, etc. i am just throwing out random crappy ideas of course, but you get what i mean. just hoping zerg guilds will not cause this games downfall, for so many reasons.

@TheRealEvades military nodes use a pvp tournament system. Religious nodes are chosen by piety. (Whoever is the holiest in the religion system) economic nodes are a bidding war (you buy the mayorship) and science nodes are the democratic ones who use voting. At launch I think 83 nodes. Is what's listed. You could just go read the node page on the wiki. But this is a game about CREATING cities and vassal states. Being alone isn't really a good way to do things.

Git gud. There's different node types with different criteria for becoming a mayor. Anyone can become a mayor. Only the scientific nodes are chosen by vote. Those will probably always go to streamers.

Steven already said he only aims on having 20-25ish players at one time with flying mounts on a server. Limited supply = greater demand, yet again going back to content creators as they will be the ones with the most gold. No matter what way you or the person above look at it, having an item of such value be limited to only a small section of players means either it just goes to the sweatiest of the sweats and casuals will never get a look in or content creators. Why spend that much time developing flying mounts and adding them when only 0.05% of your player base will only ever experience them?

@@MRMichyBio "Why spend that much time developing flying mounts" Because its cool? Flying cannot be a generic thing available to everyone - it would ruin the game. Its just a fun little thing for the "elites" to play with. You could say the same about other stuff in Ashes too - why develop the highest level of housing when only a fraction of players will be able to achieve that? Why develop metropolis level nodes when only a few nodes will be able to achieve that? Why develop anything that doesn't achieve 100% usage by the playerbase?
