Seeing Squidward homeless begging for pocket change made me feel bad for him...then the part where Squidward orders Spongebob around like a servant came along, and that feeling changed.

Fr it’s such a well told story. Squid is absolutely in the right at the beginning- his boss sucks and anyone would quit over being treated like garbage over 10 cents, and he didn’t actually want to be a freeloader- he had dreams of his own he wanted to work towards, before life kicked him in the balls and took those dreams away. And even when he was homeless, he didn’t go to SpongeBob expecting to be given a room, SpongeBob had to go to him and offer it, and he seemed really humbled by it at first. And SpongeBob was just trying to be a good friend in giving him all that shit. But unfortunately, Squidward got too comfortable getting basically instant gratification for nothing in return, even though his live overall was still miserable- he’s not happy even though he has all his needs taken care of, he’s even more of a dick than before, because his life has no substance to it now, no meaning, he’s basically just a vegetable who can talk and yell. And so the story is able to criticize both Squidward’s miserable life at the crusty Krab, where he is unable to go after his dreams and instead has to work for a crappy boss just to not be on the streets, and the idea of being a freeloader, being unwilling to work for anything and expecting everything to just be handed to you. It teaches us that an ideal world is somewhere between those 2, and All of that in just 12 minutes. It’s some good shit.
