This seems to get worse when either their lives get worse and/or they get older. The narcissist in my life was able to say they were wrong and I was right at one time (and I mean years into the relationship, not just love bombing) but these days, that's not the case. Now every little thing is a problem and if they can't find something to be unhappy about, they will manufacture something, like you said. Edit: I just watched your video "Why Things Only Get Worse with Narcissists," very accurate! I think, too, that they do get more miserable with themselves and their lives as time goes on and so, of course, they take all that out on the people who stay in their lives. Tip: Get out!

I had a narc boss once who was harassing me in an over the top inappropriate way. When confronted with the numbers that proved my point, he acted as if that was irrelevant. The facts didn't matter! I knew then that I was dealing with something toxic and was able to quit and get another gig. His reaction to me quitting was equally interesting and puzzling. These people are exhausting and puzzling. Pure toxicity.

My narc brother chose to not hear and receive my words of encouragement and help when our father was dying. Instead he made up his own narrative and accused me of stuff that was not true, and raged at me. And his narc wife raged at me, and she is diabolical, 2-faced, horror show. They kept information from me, yet blamed me for everything. So nothing they said made sense. This was the tipping point for me - I’m done. No contact. Sad to sacrifice knowing my niece and nephews. But I can’t take the ridiculous abuse anymore. There is a better way to live, and that is what I choose. However a nightmare is coming in the future when my mom dies, because there is inheritance involved. 😱

Once upon a time, my narc sister manipulated (guilted) me into letting her use my car while I was at work Mon-Fri. She said that my car was just sitting there all day in the parking lot, not being used, so in fact, she could be using it! Like an idiot, I would drive to her house in the mornings, pick her up, drive us to my job, then she would get behind the driver's wheel and have MY car all day! Lastly, she claimed that I was responsible for keeping gas in the car (not her), since I was driving it each day, too! She smeared my name like dirt, when I came to my senses and put a stop to the insanity!

My ex wife, I’ve realized many years later, has never believed that our 4 biological children were mine, too. Of course, it’s a biological FACT that I’m the father. But I think she always hated that fact because she didn’t like(in fact hated) the fact that she had to share. Totally nuts!! Staring at the objective facts!! NOPE! 2 + 2 = 5 to the narcissist. It’s a fantasy world 🌎 they live in. And, of course, now all my adult childrens many problems due to her divorcing me for no good reasons: NOW ALL OF MY CHILDRENS PROBLEMS ARE MY FAULT!! 😜 I couldn’t think that crazy if I tried.

A chronic covert need to cause emotional harm is the most common type 'cuz they don' t have to bloody their knuckles to harm your soul ..you see...they will not usually engage you as sport until they have pre-paved some plausible deniability into any rebuttals you may have to your abuse ....and bloody knuckles are a dead giveaway. Most prefer a subtle psychological wearing down....emasculation, belittlements, questioning your every move...like slow acting poison.
