To be fair doing interviews pre internet era was considered “selling out” because it was usually set up by the labels with journalists who had absolutely no clue what or who they were interviewing. Nard really was one of the guys who changed that. He’s become a cultural icon since then.

It mimics chess grandmasters with the recall ability. Tyler calling out bridges from individual song numbers on certain albums resembles chess mastered remembering positions they had in games 10-20 years prior. I know they are two completely different things, but my brain instantly connected the recall memory to each of these things. Super interesting and you know they are very in tune with what they do.

Tyler is the epitome of a child of hip hop and R&B. He has a genuine love for almost all the acts that came out during the 90's and early 2000's. Tyler was for sure in his own lane for the 2nd half of this video, which is interesting since Nardwar usually interviews the artist the whole time.. Really shows the type of respect he has for Tyler as a guest. Tyler has matured so much since OF days, its crazy and makes me feel old lol

the feeling watching Nardy and Tyler together is just such a warm one. how Nardwaur lights up listening to Tyler share his music knowledge is so genuine, and the respect that Tyler has for him throughout the years has just been so nice to watch. when he got so excited about Tyler "putting him on the map" was just so pure. Tyler love him or hate him is an artist. He takes everything about music and the culture to heart. If he loves something he doesn’t care if it’s cool or if other people also like it. He loves shit that just makes him think or vibe when he hears it. I’m the same way. There isn’t a genre of music I haven’t heard that I can’t find a certain band that makes it sound good. Jazz, techno, country, death metal, disco, pop I can find a song from all that that makes my head bop and feel good. The reason he embraced nardwuar is because he feels that same passion. One time he asked nardwuar where he got a certain record and he said “it’s from my collection, I think he’s fantastic.” And I remember Tyler just looking at him like “my nigga”.

One of the most warming videos between two guys I’ve ever seen. And to think it’s been cultivated and consistent for 7 years. Between Nardy’s numerous gratitude for Tyler and Tyler’s genuine happiness for and with him, there’s just too many words and moments to type and comment on with only 40 minutes of footage. There needs to be a podcast, a show (really anywhere), or some sort of video series with these two. Not only would it be one of the most positive and healthiest collections of content in the music industry, it would be that belly laughing humor mixed in with a type of musical education and recollection of history that’s specific and unique to only these two men. Love this, absolutely timeless and gets better with every watch.
