Unbelievable rendition of this tonight in Hobart. In my 30 years playing with the TSO I’ve never been moved so much by an encore. Narek Hakhnazaryan is in my opinion the greatest living cellist. A supreme musician. I find it difficult to put into words...

OMG. I wonder if the composer himself could have imagined his Lamentatio performed with such deeply felt emotion. Some may criticize the vocalizations but they miss the point.... the cellist and his cello are partners in this lament for the genocide of the Armenian people.

America doesn't deny its atrocities as it do Turkey. Hope you can see the difference.
@NarekHovhannisyan7 жыл бұрын
What a nonsense do you speak, I assume you are a turk and totally brainwashed. In 1915 besides Armenian Genocide there were also Greek and Assyrian genocides and your state still denies it. Stop falsify the history, in 1918 that was Turkey which attacked Armenia, see Battle of Sardarabad. The battle not only stopped the Ottoman advance into the rest of Armenia but also prevented the complete destruction of the Armenian nation.
@NarekHovhannisyan7 жыл бұрын
"But the little Armenians, France, Germany and Vatican call it a genocide." Sure ? - The Council of Europe recognized the Armenian Genocide on May 14, 2001 - On April 15, 2015, the European Parliament backed a motion that calls the massacre a century ago of up to 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turkish forces a genocide - In 1997 the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) passed a resolution unanimously recognizing the Ottoman massacres of Armenians as genocide. - 45 states out of 50 of the United States, have recognized the events as a genocide. - The term genocide was coined in 1943 in response to Armenian Genocide, and to the mass murders in Nazi controlled Europe. - In 1985, the United Nations Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities received a report (The Whitaker Report), in which the Ottoman systematic massacre of Armenians during the World War I was cited as meeting the criteria for the UN definition of genocide and as one of the genocides of the 20th century. The report was received and noted by a resolution at the 38th session of the Sub-Commission in 1985.
@NarekHovhannisyan7 жыл бұрын
You are an ordinary genocide denier without any argument. Armenian genocide is a historical fact, the only country which should recognize the genocide is Turkey and first of all it is important for Turkey for creating a healthy society. All the problems and among them the question of Kurds (which were also guilty in genocide of Anatolian Christians) are a huge affliction for modern Turkey. You have no other way besides accepting and repentance.

I think this piece is applicable to our times in dealing wit Covid19 in 2020. A call for compassion, a lament on the poor souls that will suffer... then the restlessness of being quarantined....then the work, work , work of all who are keeping us going, grocers, nursed and doctors...then the tedium ... then the prayer again... then.... Thank you Narek, you transported music beyond its borders to all our hearts and souls. And thank you Giovanni for downloading this from the spheres.

Firstly this is an outstanding technical performance. Secondly here is a young artist of vigour and passion; long may that last, and when he matures he will have so much to share both in terms of technique and musicianship. In the mean time long may he revel in the vigour of youth.

I'm not much of a classical music nut, but I do enjoy the rock/metal genre and understand that there are many parallels and similarities between the classical/metal genre. I saw this performed live as part of a requirement of my music appreciation class and I was so impressed, my jaw literally dropped. Metal af and inspiring.
@shirist83806 жыл бұрын
I am the opposite. To me it is just a way of playing Jazz - something quite different from classical music. I love it as I love Jazz - in one of my favourite Jazz clubs OK, in some of my favourite classical music halls I would not like to listen to it; there I prefer Beethoven, Haydn, Boccherini, Elgar etc.
