What should a beginner get to get started in this? Plane, cameras, for, etc...
@AdamGdoesFPV5 жыл бұрын
Hi, if you want to get into FPV planes I recommned something like the AR wing: tiny.cc/3zgv0y But if you want a traditional style plane then something like the Mini Talon would be a good size and option. For camera, i use this one in about 8 aircraft because it is so good and a the price is very low too: tiny.cc/9scv0y

This video is about the best fpv related video I've ever seen! Informative, calm and professional like comments. Your Skywalker looks like a really clean build! How did you paint it?
@AdamGdoesFPV9 жыл бұрын
+asgeir nilssen Thanks= you for the kind feedback :) I painted it using multi purpose grey primer spay from my local hardware store. The finish was good but its easy to damage the paintwork. If i was doing it again i'd probably laminate it straight after to protect it.
@assieotn9 жыл бұрын
Painting these planes is hard. Keeping i look good, even worse.. I'm thinking about using some kind of rubber paint. Or coloured laminate. I've seen carbon fiber look laminate used on a skywalker, looked awsome!
@AdamGdoesFPV9 жыл бұрын
Yeah i'd say coloured laminate would be your best option

I watched this video back when you posted it. I know a lot more about fpv now and have just watched it again. It's great to see a 15km flight in the weather that I can expect most of the time in NE England. Considering the cloud and the relatively low altitude I think that getting to 15km before video breakup is a good result. I'm amazed when I fly 5km on 5.8ghz and can't wait to switch to 1.3! great video : )

Excellent drone. My only concern is the altitude you were flying at. Did you file a flight plan, adsb etc. As well as in to drones, im a pilot too. And anything above 400 ft causes me concern. It’s hard to see full size aircraft from the air and I’ve had friends had near misses with these things. I applaud you for your project but if you’re not already, please keep it safe.

Yes, way above the current CAA limit. But, noting this brilliant application of technology was posted way back in 2015(!) the height limitation would not have been in place then(?) Rule or no rule though, it was pretty irresponsible really.

Does flying great distances over water effect range? If so does it improve range or make it worse? I wonder if you took off and flew over the sea how far you could get? I admit, it would be risky with next to no recovery chance, but could be fun?
@AdamGdoesFPV2 жыл бұрын
Hey, over water it can actually reduce the range due to reflections. You could still go really far at the right altitude. My flying style is staying very low to medium range these days... but people that are into the long range out and back thing are able to do 100km +

Hi Pedro. Best way to learn is through forums such as RCGroups, and watching youtube videos and tutorials. Thats how I learnt. There seems to be a tutorial on YT for everything :) When it comes to wiring it all up, it's mostly all dictated by the Flight Controller/Autopilot that you buy. It will come with instructions and should hopefully all make sense. Thanks for the watching and commenting

Having good rc flying knowledge and experience will help a lot. Mostly you’ll need to learn what equipment to use and setting up flight controllers (if you plan to use one). These days the easiest/cheapest one to get into is iNav. Look that up, join groups on Facebook or forums like RCGroups and watch yt videos. Good luck 👍🏻

@AdamGdoesFPV9 жыл бұрын
+CrazyCroatianhacker Thanks :) Yeah I have considered it, but I mainly considered somehow mounting it on the tracker with a directional antenna on it. My main concern would be not much separation between my DL tx and the Crosshair. I hadn't considered putting it on its own tripod...

After building up the Sky Eye (2M FPV glider) I'm starting to understand the appeal of the Skywalker! The nose of the Sky Eye is roomy, but the cavity under the wing has limited space and visibility. I don't think I'm going to attempt a full APM setup on the Sky Eye. I don't see how I can fit all the gear in the space along with FPV cams and other gear. I installed eight wires to the back of the tail before gluing the tail in, anticipating the installation of a GPS/compass module, but now I may go with another cam on a pan servo.
@AdamGdoesFPV7 жыл бұрын
Best model for fitting loads of gear with ease is the Skyhunter. Soooo much space in there!
@hughhemington95597 жыл бұрын
Yes, from what I've seen, the cavity under the Skyhunter wing is 3 inches wide, around 4 inches high and extends over a foot out in front of the wing with over half of it under or close to the CG. The tail boom invades that cavity a bit, but leaves a lot of space. The fuselage doesn't come with the door most people cut in the side. Not sure if the Skywalker comes with a door cut in the side or not, but I always see one. And while the Skywalker cavity is probably higher, the Skyhunter is longer. I watched a seven-part build video of the Skyhunter that was pretty horrifying. It looked like the guy was building the Space Shuttle. I'd love to be able to bury wires inside the wings, but I'm not dying to build any of these things "from scratch".

Thanks Neil. I think I can go beyond 20k, really was bad conditions for long range. More testing coming soon

There are plenty of people that have gone way further :) Doesn't really interest me though, in fact I never fly this far any more
