@platyfpvКүн бұрын

Have you ever just done a range test with this? maybe even 6s2p 21700?? Im curious what you max range is because I don't do the crazy stuff you do (well, I do, but not until I actually get there, which is sometimes over 8KM away). I want to get into this crazy mountain surfing that you do. Do you think that my 8 inch can handle like this? drone weight is around 750 grams. I have not yet built the 8 inch because I just got rid of my chimera 7 pro 7.5 inch. Also I found the most insane motors I have ever laid my eyes on for 8 inch. They produce 3500 grams of thrust at 1000 watts compared to the Tmotor F90's 2100 at 1050 watts. At 185 watts, 7.8 amps, they produce over 1000 grams of thrust compared to the F90's 800. They are called the QX-motor 2812 1150kv.
@platyfpvКүн бұрын
@@VogxelFPV I never did actually, my setup is particularly heavy and stiff, optimized for flight performances much more than for pure range since it's not what I'm looking for. Anything 5+km away is to me something I'd rather fly with an inav wing for safety purposes. if anything goes wrong on a quad you're down, with a wing you can at least glide, and you get like 10 times the range with much smaller batteries, it just doesn't make sense to stick to the quadcopter format at some point.

@platyfpvКүн бұрын
@fauconpelerinvagabond3169Күн бұрын

Sick as always! Surprised you're flying Li-Ion on some of these considering how much you like to send it. I've never used Li-Ion only Lipo for long range because I don't want 10-15 min flights, I wanna go hurling it down the mountain. How much difference do you feel with Li-Ion vs Lipo?
@platyfpvКүн бұрын
@@batcavefpv5007 I kinda didn't have the choice considering how far theses specific lines were (mostly ~3km out). Big Lipos could've probably done it but Liion brings a solid and appreciated margin (and my biggest Lipos were "only" 3300mAh). There's also a few Lipo packs in this video and there is a massive difference, the punch is on another level and 100% more suited for freeride, that's what I fly all the time when the spot allows it

@platyfpvКүн бұрын

You never pas 50% throttle, assuming the reason is Li ions cant handle higher, why not just limit drone power in betaflight and have whole stick travel? Or did i get something wrong?
@platyfpvКүн бұрын
@@ConceptNull they can provide more, they'll just heat up faster and sag a lot but you do wanna keep that possibility in case you need to quickly dodge low obstacles or come back in LOS after loosing video. Also as explained on that vid I rarely fly Liion and go straight up for LiPos as long as the spot allows so, this setup would be a pain in the ass to alternate between both chemistry, and I don't lack precision on that lower 50% on the throttle anyway
