You couldn't say it any better, pigeons are a love that go so deep within us where it's hard if not impossible for other people to understand it! It's a religion, a way of life our inner peace. I've been into racing homer's since I was a boy and over 35+ years I still love them as I did then. Only one recommendation for this guy, "air quality" is very important. Not only for your birds but for you as well... pigeon lung is real, don't let it take all that you luv!

People don't realize how clever pigeons are and how interesting they are as individuals. My London pigeons do very well on peanuts but I have only a few loyal ones who show up a few times a week. My oldest pigeon is a little hen who has been flying into my garden for about 12 years.

PIGEONS DESPERATELY NEED HELP !! 90% of pigeons in cities die in their first year of their lifes. The others don't live longer than 2-3 years. In nature, they can live up to 12-15 years ! They have nothing to eat, they are forced to eat trash and they freeze to death. Pigeons can NOT live naturally in cities. They are only here because of breeders !

@@mx7452 BE nice to them and everything you do should be really calm. So they know you can get them food and they know there save around you. Sometimes i take one of my homing pigeons inside. And there really confused where there are and don't know anything around them. So what do they do? They sit on my shoulder because that's what they know and feel save by.

@@mx7452 ITs better to keep the feral ones feral, they are not going to adapt well to a caged live. There is always tame pigeons that cannot really be released needing a home. IF you are in the US look for palomacy, they always have pigeons up for adoption, im sure there are many other orgs.

Good to see you guys are still at this neighborhood staple. I grew up a few blocks away from here. From the nineteenth floor, after school, before sunset you could see the different flocks doing reels in the painted skies of Williamsburg. It was so entertaining trying to figure out which one was the lead pigeon. Sometimes the flocks would blend then ultimately separate. Aah! My youthful summers on the Southside. Every generation of my family kept pigeons after coming to the US. This stopped when we moved to the suburbs when I was a kid. Now I live in a very rural setting and I see the pigeons who eat out of the corn and grain fields. I have a large 2 story shed with a loft. I am building nesting boxes up there and I’m going to start raising them again so my children can experience it too.

I thought "Flights" were mostly used for these rooftop games of recruiting deserters from your competitors flocks. He mentioned Polish high flyers. My father kept those and several other breeds. He was especially fond of silver Rollers, Doneks, and of course Indian Fantails, which were very pretty and made good "droppers".

Amazing Video. I started feeding Pigeons in Atlanta start of the pandemic cause everything closed. They are partial to peanuts I add them to wild seed. I use a Bobby Whistle to summon them but get a crowd just by walking out with my dog.

The only petition I ever wrote up circulated and won was for protecting a pair of pigeons from an asshole executive manager where I used to work. I love birds, all birds and always wanted to keep pigeons since I was a kid. That was before I learned my great grandfather had a pigeon coop as well.

Flew my flights (300) back in the early 60's through 70's experienced many roll out's and lost many, by the same token hit many coming over the Cross Bx expressway. I purchased my birds at Sam's pigeon shop on 180th street and his brother over at white plains Rd. Those shops are now gone. I plan on flying up to New York, and would like to visit for old time sake a pigeon shop, could you recommend one? Thanks for the vid, it brings back great memories.

My parents found a young pigeon that won’t fly away with its parents. They actually come and visit it when it is left on the porch. But it never leaves with them. I don’t know what to do for it.
