From the way that rolling stock is riding, whoever looks after the road on the Cumbrec & Toltec is doing a damn fine job; especially when you look at the train from head on going over that check-railed bridge, you can see how narrow the gauge is compared to the width of the loco, so even a slight variation in rail height would really make it roll!

I feel like that old fashioned railways with steam trains are more popular and iconic than the new modern railways with diesel trains

You are forgetting the two footers of Maine (and the one in Massachusetts)

Well, no. I’m only using the footage I’ve personally shot. Maine is a long way from my home in Arizona.

Both the D&S and the C&T run tourist passenger trains in spring, summer and fall, usually with steam. When fire danger is too great then with a diesel. The trains shown here were photographers charters, the C&T can be easily chased from Chama to Cumbres and a bit further, then disappears into the wilderness. The D&S is mostly flat until Rockwood? Then into the wilderness until Silverton. The FCAB is both chaseable and runs enough trains to stake out locations. Cumbre Pass is a great location, a 4x4 is recommended. If chasing towards the Bolivian border, a full gas tank is essential, and again a 4x4. This is the Atacama Desert, ain’t much out there. NO gas at the border.

Any-one know the reason for the 'flashing blue lights' on several of the 'FCAB' loco's.?

You never did get to New Zealand? All of New Zealand is narrow gauge, a mix of modern railway and some historic railway
@petercrook4626 Жыл бұрын
I did. The Tranz Alpine and the Tarik Gorge people were very nice to me with cab rides. My wife was with me so mostly tourist stiff. Enjoyed Tui beer!
