“By the time my competitors read 5 books, I would have read 50... Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer.” -Sifu Dan Lok That is one of the biggest aha moments for me in this video. To study my competitors and learn from them. Sifu, you’re always giving us a different angle we can approach when it comes to learning and implementing. Thank you 🙏🏻

I guess this is a good reason for choosing a specific niche also. A lot less competitors in the niche markets than in the general ones!

But how to find so much about the target market as well as competitors? Do you go to their house, knock at their door and ask them why are you awake or randomly go to each and every person and ask them who are they buying stuff from and what problems that product has and what are their biggest fears? How can you know so much stuff? How to you get that close to them??? It does not make sense!

Dan Lok ... you’ve truly gotten me to think long and hard about my strategy. After I left the Marines in 2013, my income has gone from 83k to 140k - yes - because of hard work... but also because of what you talk about THINKING strategically. However, I’m beginning to see a ceiling. So, I started my own business last year. But I’ve been hesitant to carve my path forward because it has been unclear to me. However, your videos and snippets of information (trade secrets) have cleared some of the fog. I can see the path a bit more. I’m an IT developer. Here’s my website (under construction) kevinawhite1.wixsite.com/mysite And I think introducing the training aspect into my business model is absolutely genius. And I’m hoping to leverage some of my colleagues into the training sessions so we can grow together. I ordered my post-it market board and I’m ready to dig into more of your videos. Thanks again! Ooh rah and semper fi... from one warrior to another!

Sifu Dan, At 10:52 when you are talking about knowing your enemy (competitor ) You talk about watching the movements and patterns of your competitors. I find this rather difficult because so much of my market is kept secret from the general public. How do you recommend i transcend this limitation to get more insight on my competition and my industry?
@RUNNINGWATER6 жыл бұрын
Sifu, i wonder How can I out learn my competition? What are the processes? How to improve Or train yourself so that you can identified a person in a seconds?

Hi Don, I'm enjoying your advises. I'm now assigned as the regional manager of a industrial product in oil and gas. Whole new market. From what I know, there has been traditional competitors for the last 30 years in this market. Our product though, is high tech and modern with many pluses and price competitive too. I haven't done this kind of marketing and I seek advice for the strategy and key points which I should follow. Would you please give me a hint or introduce a book to me so I can catch up. I want to take this further and prove myself that I can do it and otherwise reshape myself. Thank you Don

Quite often, even when you are aware of the importance of determining your niche, you end up focusing on having a nice product and/or service. I think, it is the result of too much impatience more than anything else. This is the analysis I have made for myself. What is your opinion on that?

There is some misunderstanding between what your saying here about studying your opponents every move, and some earlier teachings about not competing with competitors in your market. Instead, you should take ideas from leaders of other markets. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

Information is always money, same thing applies to stock market, people make money because they have access to info more quickly, not because they are smart. Imagine yourself invest in stocks. I bet my life that goldman sachs knows shits gonna hit the fan before you even see there is a risk. You lose 100% no questions asked. The same thing applies to sales, you know your client, you make the sale. If you dont know your client, do things that make your client show, and make the sale. Like my friend who makes up the market with fake ads and then sell his car at 2 x of the market value, same thing, it takes effort and sometimes your mind to make those extra few bucks
