One question that I haven’t seen a response to yet is how you balance the potential internal conflict of your social chain days (advertisement & consumerism) with your recent viewpoint (connection, authenticity, not being drawn in by socials) etc.

Takeaways from the podcast: 1/3. Focus is important and essential for success. If you don't give 100% of your focus towards the thing you are doing, you are basically reducing your chance of success. But if you do invest 100% of your efforts, you are giving it the best possible chance of success. 2/3. Imposter syndrome is a sign of growth. If you are feeling that you are an imposter, you are in a situation where you will be able to grow a lot. "If you are not outside of your comfort zone, you will not grow". That will allow you to strive forward and learn. 3/3. The three things to look at for success: Enjoyment, Evidence, Validation Enjoyment: If you are not enjoying it, you will probably not be giving 100% of your time attention. Evidence: Are you seeing evidence of progress? Is there marginal progress from one period to the next period? Validation: Am I getting feedback from the people and are people showing up again and again? Are they helping you grow and is there continuous increase X (important metric)?

Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.

Hey Steven, I had just decided that I needed to spend more time online in something positive and motivational rather than watching short meaningless clips one after another. The day I decided to change what I spend my time on is when I found your channel. First video was about coffee and I have been drinking for 12 years without realizing what caffeine can and is doing to me. Its been 2 weeks. I sleep better, wake up and finally feel full of energy. I told my family and my sister has stopped coffee in the evenings. She thought she could sleep even with coffee but couldn’t understand why she was waking up tired. I have listened to a few more episodes and its so positive and inspirational. I am so grateful for your channel. Thank you.

When I think back over my long career, I’ve always asked myself what got me up every morning? Why didn’t I get tired or blasé about being a dentist? Between Simon Sinek‘s “Find Your Why”, and Steve Bartlett‘s “Diary of a CEO”, all the answers are found in there. I was lucky I found what excited and fulfilled me on my first try. Now Steve Bartlett is my source of motivation to start a second career, but this time it’s not so easy, because it’s not falling into my lap. Great podcasts Steve. Thank you for being passionate and genuine. Seeing the actual person who’s asking the question made this concept more meaningful.

"Let's change what we thought was true to what we know is true." This one resonated with me. When I founded my company, The Room Xchange, five years ago, I hung onto the original concept and business model with clenched fists. Thankfully, the two years we were in lockdown in Melbourne Australia, gave me the time to reflect, let go and pivot the company into our new rent/rent offset model which has since proven to be the right move. We're in a rental crisis and we're now ready to solve this problem. Thank you for the reminder. I liken it to when you're pregnant. You have an idea of what your baby/child is going to be like with a naive view. It's not until it's born that you realise that you need to pivot and relaunch your parenting concepts! Having had 30 years of experience as a parent, it's very clear how the same principals work in business. You must let go and grow. Thanks again Steve for your pearls of wisdom. Ludwina x

Thank you very much for the valuable lesson! The „some day“-shelf plus the fact that I need to focus on one thing rather than many different things and then not being able to allocate 100% to each of those things, that’s what I needed to hear. I am a Full Time Student from Germany and my study really takes up much time, but I also have ideas and visions I would like to follow but put them in the back, to concentrate on my studies. And I always say to myself that it’s a bad thing to not take action and work on my idea „alongside“ my studies but this would also mean dividing my time and energy.. it would in fact shift my focus. Hearing that putting my idea on a shelf and postponing taking action isn’t necessary a bad thing reliefs me

Good afternoon Steven, I am new here and now have a KZbin account which is good as it allows me to comment on content instead of just watching. I just had to comment on this video as I found it totally inspirational, thank you. I have been sitting on a wonderful business creation to fill a gap in an overcrowded and confused sector and to develop my format to maximise every opportunity in similar sectors. I got excited and somewhat emotional as your words of positivity particularly about being out of your comfort zone as a daily challenge! I am still unclear of the right way to go about launching my first venture as I will require a level of investment but with high returns potential plus... dare I say, an exit strategy, as I and others can see the value of the business in the future, as the portfolio of websites will appeal to the masses. Much appreciated and keep inspiring the entrepreneurs of the future. AC.

23:02 if your business/project is getting getting 1% better every week, then thanks to compound interest you will be 100% better in 70 weeks, not after 100 weeks as you said. After 100 weeks of 1% improvement per week, you will actually have improved 170%, so that is very encouraging. This is the theme of the book Atomic Habits, which I think it is highly likely you have read. I enjoyed this video by the way!

With the first lesson that you shared, the very same thing happened to me. I went to someone I consider an advisor of mine and I had a list of goals I wanted to achieve. He told me that I was scattered like a dog with dogmores and advised me to be a dog with a bone. A dog with dogmores has many nuggets or fragments of meat to get. It is all over the place. A dog with a bone has one thing to focus on. So, that's how he showed me the importance of focus.

My weekend has been spent in continuous pain from an ear infection so unfortunately my usual Monday morning routine of a 6am walk with my dog whilst listening to this podcast has been disrupted. And to be totally honest, I feel a bit out of sync! Looking forward to listening to this at a later date Steve. Thank you for all your hard work.

Currently in that situation where my focus is all over the show. Full time job, 3 KZbin channels and trying to find time learning multiple technologies to use on my YT channels. I do all my own video creation, editing, and posting. Just added music production, something I know absolutely nothing about, because I thought it would be a good idea to start a YT lo-fi channel. Have not monetized any of my channels

Nice one, I liked it. Informative and interesting! Having had all that exposure to CEO's you have obviously learnt a thing or two right. This way you get to kind of interview yourself and answer the question you might ask a guest. Nice one.

Steve, loving your work! One for your "Someday* shelf - How about choosing someone to mentor, and recording the mentoring sessions? I think watching, and understanding the whole authentic process, would be an awesome addition to your channel. I realise your time is precious, and limited, hence "the shelf"! 🤔

Thank you, I really enjoyed this! I am 65 and have been self-employed as a consultant for 29 years. However, I am determmined to create a writing career - and it is hard going but I love it. It is a young person's world now, or so it seems, and here I am still striving in the year I officially become an OAP 😄 It's never too late, I suppose!
