Hey Nate, I'm a finish carpenter with more than 30 years of experience. I'm willing to give my skills to you and Will. You supply the materials and ill supply the labor. IM 52 years old and I can install over 30 interior doors in a day. I'm not looking to promote my company because I'm established. I believe I can hang new doors and make new cabinets for your new homestead in about a week. I'll drive over there bringing my own tools and whatnot to give a helping hand. I hope this message finds you. Thank you for your time!

Yep!!! I was kinda sad when I heard Nate had quit renovations, bc you can just tell he’s the Real Deal, which is Sooo important to Old Homes, upgrading, but keeping with their original beauty, with woodwork talents long gone(but making a comeback!). It Does suck Having to follow someone else’s vision, when they’re clueless to what’s involved, so I certainly don’t blame him for wanting out!!! There’s practicality, but artistry involved, & I’m sooo excited to get to see him in Full action, bc I doubt this Old Lady will still be here, to see his home built. All my family came from WV, & though I live elsewhere, a huge chunk of my heart still beats for my Love of WV, & Nate & Jen are Excellent stewards to help carry her into better times, while attracting more Good People to All that WV has to offer.🥰🙏

I see you have a red eye lid. If you get sties, (I used to), a warm damp black tea bag is your best friend. Just steep it in hot water, then let it cool, and ring a bit out and put it over your eyelid. It works 100% of the time, a .10 cure. If it's not a sty and it's a bite, common plantain will remove the toxins, but generally, a tea bags' tannins will bring the inflammation down. Sorry if I'm being nosy, I love to share good knowledge and money saving life hacks. Thank you for being super great example to the internet of how to do things your own way and do them right. We definitely need more of that. Good night to you all

I love the potential of that property! The storage building over the cellar is a keeper. I would repair it before the house. It would work as a dry storage space for house repair supplies. Afterward, I (personally) would use it as a canning/preserving room. Then, the goods could be stored below!

The one we bought was only 10 acres and the house was totally in need. The people who lived there before tore it up badly, I mean they tore out sinks, made Swiss cheese out of walls, and used graffiti as painted rooms. So my husband left the purchase up to me. He said as long as he had land the house was for me. Honestly the minute I walked around the house it was talking to me, I could see how each room would look. So yeah 2 years later I made it pretty and my husband made veggie gardens, brought back life to the many trees on our property and planted a beautiful flower area as well as fruit trees. Your so great at seeing the future and making it happen. So I'm looking forward to seeing you make this place livable again. Stay healthy, happy and safe always.

You could definitely turn the root cellar/storage shed into the addition so that the home would have a semi basement and it could double as the new mud room. You said you wanted to also build on the side of the property so by having an entrance on that side might be beneficial if you decide to go with the out house option. You could definitely build out the floor from the house and combine the two structures increasing the square footage and creating a larger footprint on the property. A deck of some sort would be really nice where the existing mud room is where you said you were demolishing and it could wrap around to the back hiding a drainage system and creating more storage. Adding a sliding door to access the deck might be nice for an out door bbq area that could have a roof and it would also extend the living room space in a really nice way. Lots of potential for this property and also I doubt this is going to take you ten years with the new help you've got but I don't know all your plans obviously. Best of luck with the property and hope to see more content on this homestead.

And def tear out all the floors and clean it and even sealing it from water from the ground on the inside. Possibly laying a concrete base layer of some way of making sure the living space is sealed off from the crawlspace.

Only problem I see is with needing to extend the stairs and moving the doors, the bedroom beside the kitchen, that doorway is going to cause an issue. You're going to have to invade the kitchen space(which is already small) change the layout or put the addition on the other side of the building. Extending the kitchen, you'd have space for the room door, a 2nd exit which is required anyway and a bit or room for laundry perhaps. The house is solid from what I can tell, like you said, walls are straight, there isn't much settling cracking and a good leveling out seems to be in order. Pretty nice area, I like it.
