Most Americans buy things they can't afford on credit their entire lives then wonder why they have no money. Let's be generous and say this lifestyle cost him $200k. If this was your dream you could work in the oil fields or fishing industry for like 4 years and pay for it outright and never work again. This channel isn't some Ghost Town Living type of shit where it's a multimillionaire tech bro acting like he's homesteading. Same. I so wish I could do this, but I have pretty bad health issues that keep me from doing heavy manual physical labour like this. I'd love it if I could meet a man who knows how to do this stuff and get married and I could cook, preserve foods and clean and stuff like that while he does the construction and stuff, but I don't envision that happening anytime soon. Not many men would want to be with me because of said health issues. So instead I'll just watch Nate & live vicariously.

@@loriburnip its a blessing to make little steps towards self sufficiency. If you have a yard or patio, you can get some big tubs, and drill holes in them, fill with growing medium and start with a few tomato plants. And continue to expand as you are given opportunity. You don't have to be married to do that. If you have a patio, or even a small yard, you can make a start. So many wonderful you tube videos on how to do things these days. It's amazing. It's a God send because the world is running towards madness more and more. I pray you can make steps towards getting healthier, and maybe get a place our in the country and see what you can do! Never know til you try! Hugs

Yes! This is the smart way. Big mansion houses are stupidly wasteful. My house is 720sq ft, & I'm building a shed, because if you are frugal & believe in "waste not, want not", you will always have things you've found for future projects. And the timing never seems to be quite right! Love Nate & Minion, & now Aslan! The cats, too, though they are normal cats & don't care about being on camera. Go Mouse Patrol!

Hey Nate, we have quite a bit in common. 20+ years off grid now and I started in a small camper with 2 rescue pups. Saved some money and built a small cabin, coops, garden and sheds. Started a local pest control business and with no house payments and no utility bills I was able to retire at 49. Now I just write off grid books and design cabin plans for other people to build and do adventure vids with my dogs. Life is good! Best on your adventures!

I moved out to Washington in the big mountains with dreams of homesteading. But something I didn’t realize was how expensive it was going to be. So I bought a house and suffered a 2k mortgage for 5 years. But before I moved here 10 years ago I was from WV as well. But cancer got me now so my homesteading dream is on hold, maybe forever. But you’ve got me thinking about returning back to mountain mama. I love your videos bud Ne I miss the people back there like you. Some of the best folks come out of Appalachia. Thanks again bud I know these videos take a lot of time to make and I’m very grateful for them. Living vicariously through you while I’m stuck in a hospital bed all day. Live king and live now. Time is never on our side. I’m 35 years old and I’ve had colon cancer twice which I did not cause myself. It’s on the rise in people my age. 20s to 30s. Take care of your body good buddy.

I've always liked the look of A-frame cabin homes with their simplicity of design and construction. I've often thought of building one if I ever got a plot of land outside the city maybe near the water. I'm here for your journey brother. As someone who just hit 25, I've only just very recently begun to look inward and question the things that I really want out of life. I've never had goals, aspirations, or dreams really, just a drive every day to do the best I can in that moment, regardless of what I was doing. As well as that has served me to this point, it also left my perspective extremely narrow and thus here I am trying to find answers to these enormous questions. All this to say that these videos and shorts truly make me feel at ease and a little less anxious about finding the answers. Your drive, outlook, mindset, and perspective on things continue to be an inspiration for me, and I'm looking forward to continuing the journey :) p.s. Minion is the very best icing to this cake
