I live in Scunthorpe and have relations in Thorne and when I go to see them I go by that canal on the train, it’s absolutely beautiful

Wow that bought back memories. We bought our boat from Bluewater marina 3 years ago and went the way you came from. We went sideways down that canal when the rope got caught round the prop. First day out on the boat.

You will be an expert on swing bridges now. And each one has a slightly different operation. The ones with the barrier you need to do yourself are a pain at times if you don't click them in fully. Oh, it's pronounced keed-bee by the way 😀 Love the Franky Howard impressions with all the Oooooo's 👍

I bought my narrowboat from Thorne boatyard two & half years ago. Four hours cruising to the lock by the River Trent, the next morning I was cruising up the Trent single handed in February. Exciting times. Oliver is a top young man. I think I would have cut a bit of slack to the others though. If they had actually done something wrong then the police would have arrested them or at least moved them on. We have all did things that perhaps we shouldn’t have done. Haven’t we? Being challenging and disrespectful are not arrestable offences. Jumping off bridges into the canal - they have courage, camaraderie and at that age fearless! A good career in the army or navy will bring out the best of their qualities and instil some respect. I like your videos but you mentioned something about old people moaning?
@NarrowboatWill3 жыл бұрын
Those lads wouldn't move to let boaters pass so the police were called. That's just disrespectful to boaters and people asking them to move. You may think that's just kids having fun but they cause problems around their area. The old people moan about the young people that's always happened I'm getting old and I moan to my kids. It's all part of life. It's was an example of good and bad there I was trying to put across. Every town has the same type of people but I didn't have any hassle. The Trent's tidal so going up on the flood would be ok but abit dodgy in winter floods. Thankyou and take care.
@oliverwatkins23242 жыл бұрын
And to add to wills excellent point that bridge was closed 8 times in just the summer period because of that same group as they was unbalencing the levelling weights and pissing on the electric unit and the house next to that bridge has had alot of trouble from the threatening to cut there sheep's thoughts and throwing stones at there chickens so I think that will is 100% correct about them and if u ask me they need locking up just to teach them how life on the inside is and that may put them of commiting a crime like them swimming and blocking that bridge
@oliverwatkins23242 жыл бұрын
And it just so happens the lock u went through is closed to have the gates replaced and a boat was sunk next to them due to a small tornado in Thorne
@NarrowboatWill2 жыл бұрын
Wow. I'm glad I got through. I went through Thorne last year. Nice place. Have a good day Oliver.

The setting you are looking for is called "mux" Mux is the tool that adjusts like a slider to sync the start of video. The iconic "Clack of the frame and the call of "Action" and silence immediately after allows the balance and calibration of "Mux". It's so stereotypical Hollywood, but is illustrates the point perfectly. I use a laser and reduce me frame a bit. A dog training metal clicker will also give the same effect. The sound creates a strong peak to balance sound. Saying a rhyme in the same general voice will allow an AI balancer to work on it. Otherwise, you use your mux tool to as closely as humanly possible to line up the wave as your eye can perceive. It's as touchy as learning to drive a standard transmission car. It's a matter of adapting to the sound you choose to use. You've got this brother. I've seen your editing skills and this is an easy thing to learn. Mic placing...... In the morning.... Place the mic over your shoulder shirtless..... The mic should be just a few C longer than you need it. Put your shirt on and clip the mic making a wide "U" with the remainder under your shirt. The "tail" down your back plugs into your wireless rig. It's terribly 90's but a fanny pack allows you to store batteries for the mic, and supply power to a chest rig for POV filming. USB batteries can work wonders for your remote filming capability. We film almost entirely in remote locations without the hope of an AC plug. Narrowboaters are close to my heart as my family were Grain Haulers on the cut before moving to America to work on the Erie Canal. Helping others comes as naturally as the seasons to me. Lemme know if you need deeper technical help. Happy to be of assistance. BTW... A riding crop can lay welts that need stitches to close and is WELL within English Law. "Thrashing" a "Highwayman" to pass.
@NarrowboatWill3 жыл бұрын
Well. That's an amazing amount of help. I didn't use Google maps on this vlog and it seems ok. You sound very professional. I really would be better off getting a Bluetooth mic. Thanks so much for the info. Very kind. Take care
@michaelshuman33193 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the problem is that the mic is no good . Even when you are sitting inside , no wind, I have to turn the volume way up to hear you . Possibly a better mic would help . Just wondering . We have had the same problem with kids jumping off bridges here in the U.S. One boy landed on a boat and broke his back .
@NarrowboatWill3 жыл бұрын
Kids will be kids but some go to far. Stopping boats going through is just lack of respect or caring about others. It could of been worse I suppose. Thankyou for commenting. I will turn volume up. I ask for feedback with picture quality and sound. Nobody has said anything so far even other vloggers and friends have said it's ok. Thanks for the feedback

It cost you 6 gig? You need a new plan Will. Smarty do one that is totally unlimited data with no caps or speed drop for around £18-£20 per month. I use it when I'm out and about and its fine. It is also a one month rolling contract so if it isn't working for you then you can cancel at any time, might be worth a look.👍

Oliver is very much the minority nowadays when it comes to young people I'm very sorry to say, that is not to say that there aren't many good younguns out there. Again, the Police do not lend themselves in terms of gaining respect as an authoritative agency when seen driving around in rainbow painted cars etc, they are there to police issues, not become a political poster board, still I suppose it takes all sorts. Thank your for your vlogs, they are great and I thoroughly enjoy watching your travels.

Hi Will its not the parents fault that lies with Maggie and her govt of the time that banned all forms of punishment handed out to kids, even parents were banned from smacking their own kids, she even took away all the clubs for teenagers, and that's why they are the way they are today and treat adults and authority with contempt, if we did half the things these kids do today we would be smacked for it and we didn't even dare back chat or even use bad language to anyone
