Great vlog Will. The pipe over the canal was used by Pilkington glass works I believe it was for the residue from glass making it was pumped over the canal to a settling lagoon wich has recently been excavated and recycled.

That smell in the air probably isn't sewage, more likely to be Prosper de Mulder - which is a waste food recycling plant. Also that pipeline was from the Old pilkingtons Glass factory.. it was the waste water outlet pipe, that goes to the slurry fields (water with fine sand in it)
@NarrowboatWill2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting thankyou. I heard they recycled the glass waste slurry pit. The smell was a sewage smell but you're probably right. Cheers
@mortxiii2 жыл бұрын
@@NarrowboatWill they did - they'd dump it out through the pipeline to let it dry out, then they'd re-use the sand from the pits once the water content was at a certain percentage.

great vlog Will , ive not been to doncaster fir years , but it's a lovely little town , it's nice when other boaters & lockies help , it's a shame about that boat sunk , it looked like it was a really nice boat once .
@NarrowboatWill2 жыл бұрын
A chap bought that boat and took out the bilge pumps that kept it afloat so it sank. CRT have sent him a massive bill to have it removed. Sad thing is it's an historic boat and the owner would've been eligible for a grant to refit it. Shame. Thanks again Lori.

We have a beta 38 and we get that sound between 1600 and 1700rpm. Going over 1700 it disappears so I have put it down to a rattle which is resonance related. We only discovered it on the tidal Trent as we never normally go over 1400.
@NarrowboatWill2 жыл бұрын
Oh well I hope it's just part of it and that's it. It does sound worrying though. I've thrashed my engine to the max so if it's going to go I'd rather it go on a canal rather than the tidal Trent. Ha ha Cheers for watching Tony.

Those pipes over the canal can be water ,gas,sewage.You are obviously a better Entamolagist than a botanist although l always enjoyed your rough stab at the plant names .And as for the weather not being favourable,l remember one of my 80 year old clients saying -always remember Mother Nature is a b......d 😱
@NarrowboatWill2 жыл бұрын
Interesting pipe set up. I said I wouldn't bother with plant names then throw some in to annoy gardeners. Ha ha That 80 year old was right Tony because right now I'm stuck on a shallow river bed with miles of reversing tomorrow. What a pain..Cheers
@chriselson74132 жыл бұрын
Those pipes carried "Burgy", a waste product from making glass at pilkington glass over to deposit on the other side forming those small hills. Long since stopped, I think!

Kind regards, old coalminer Johny.

Hello John. He's got some mouth that tiller man.
