Hi guys just beautiful. That weed is a bit of a nuisance at least who ever designed the boat had the good sense to make excess to the propeller possible. The Murry river here in AUS is a place you can rent house boats and go up and down the river. The only trouble with Australia is in summer you have to worry about the brown snakes they are deadly. Also the spiders come out in the summer so you don't want to be mucking about in long grass for too long. Talking about snakes I heard a good joke the other day. Fred and mick went on a safari in India. The guide said now you need to be on the look out for the brown and yellow snake. If you should see one start at the tail and go, brown, yellow, brown, yellow, brown, yellow, brown, yellow and grab the snake by the neck. Once you have the snake put it in one of the special bins around the reserve. So as the day went on Fred wandered off by him self as he always does. Two hours latter Mick sees Fred being carried on a stretcher by two ambulance officers. Fred had bits of clothes tarn off, scratches, bite marks all over him. Mick askes, What the bloomin hell happened to you? Fred said I was walking way over there and I saw one of those snakes, so I went, Brown, yellow, brown, yellow, brown, yellow, brown, yellow and when I got to the end there was a tiger.🐯😂😂🤣🤣 Stay safe guys catch you on the next one.👍🏻👍🏻

LOL! 😂😂😂🤣 That really made us laugh! 😆 And so glad you enjoyed the video! OMG, not just deadly snakes, but SPIDERS!!! Good grief, don’t think you’d get me anywhere near AUS anytime soon! 🫣 Apparently some of your spiders are sneaky little tikes and hide under the toilet seats!! 😱 Wow, how do you cope? Thanks Geoff! xx

Ditchford lock is near to Ditchford Mill where in the 1970s there was a bone factory, the stench from it was unbelievable .We had to shut the children in the front cabin with all windows shut on the boat whilst we had to hold our noses! I think they made glue....perhaps for the Northamptonshire shoe factories. Anyway not there now .

Oh wow, we’ve been past a bone factory before, the stench was awful! So know exactly where you’re coming from! Thanks Shirley! xx

Fabulous video. It’s such a beautiful area and the reflections are amazing (when there’s no weed!) such a wonderful place to stop - it must be the most stunning place to be, especially at sunset. Thank you so much for sharing 😊

I just find those locks fascinating, so glad you found a mooring, that was a long day 😅❤❤❤

Thanks Jacqui, we were so relieved that those moorings were free. The locks on the Nene are quite fierce and those wheels are a killer lol xx

Lovely video Julie. Well done on being captain and steering the boat today. For the amount of times Martin is a ratbag and scares you with the hooter, I would have done it back to him, when he had his head down the weed hatch. Thanks for sharing xxx

Haha that made us chuckle! That was a long day, but had a happy ending, we just love that mooring! xx

I had to laugh while watching today's vlog. At first glance, the bollards on the lock landings looked like giant coffee mugs! Like you, I breathed a great sigh of relief when you came around that last corner and the mooring was free; Phew! Just in the Nikki of time! 😉

Lol re bollards, I’ll have to watch it back to see what you mean haha. See what you did there, in the Nikki of time 😂 we were so so pleased to see those moorings were free! Thanks Chris! xx😃 xx

Hi John, we do enjoy this lifestyle and more often than not have a good giggle, but yes, there are times when it’s not so glamorous and can be tough, but well worth it! Thank you! xx

Thanks for the long ride happy to see you get a mooring you was beginning to sound a little worried i thought. You both were facing a turn around to come back and moor up on the lock landing. see you next vlog Ed 40 S of Vegas
@JulieandMartinonRIB Жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, you’re right, the sun had started to set and we had been cruising all day, so we’re concerned at not getting a mooring. The lock landing wasn’t long enough for us to use that for the night as there was already a cruiser on there, so if we hadn’t, we were facing another 2-3 locks and possibly more. The river is beautiful, but moorings unfortunately are scarce. It all turned out good in the end though 😃 xx

i think that a radial door is stronger than a flat door. Take, for example the doors of the "Maeslantkering" in the Netherlands which will hold a storm surge if neccesary.

How wonderfully refreshing, to hear a narrowboater who is not complaining about the noise. I am so sick of NB's who wing and whine about Roads, Rail and flight. They still want their diesel supplied and their goods in the supermarkets though. Where do they think it comes from? Do the Fairies bring it perhaps. Great videos by the way I watch your every one. 😁✔✔👍👍

Ive not had the pleasure of cruising yet because my boat is out of the water but i found some really long rubber gloves. So when i need to go in the weed hatch my hands and arms wont get wet. 🙏
@JulieandMartinonRIB Жыл бұрын
Yes, we have them for when we’re on the canals. They’re not needed as much on the rivers, but canal water is not so nice, so wise to wear the gloves lol. Bet you can’t wait to get cruising! Thanks! xx

You need to tell us now Julie , just why is it like that ? a radios .
@JulieandMartinonRIB4 ай бұрын
I tried to find out John, but there is no info anywhere that I could find as to why it is a radial gate 🤷♀️ I even asked for people to let us know in the comments, but nothing came back. One of life’s mysteries! 🤪 Thanks John! xx
