Hi folks, Just started watching you channel. Really enjoying it. Thanks for the look at your floating home. It is grand. Loved your chilli plants. Are they hot by the way? I live in SA with my lovely wife, Susan. In 2007 we did a narrow boat trip with 6 South Africa families. We had three narrow boats. We shared a boat with my brother & his wife for two weeks. One of the nicests holidays ever. Currently John & Dawne my brother & his wife, have bought a narrow boat & are also doing what you both are doing. Blessings to you both, Granddad Dave.

@@cruisingontheborder Good day Folks, Thanks for you message. I am so enjoying the video experience of the travels on the canals. We are currently living in Johannesburg. When retiring we moved here to be closer to our two sons, their wonderful wives & grandchildren. Our middle son, his wife & two daughters live in the UK. Most of our lives we lived in Durban , Pietermaritzburg & Zululand. My two brother & myself love hot food especially curry. My wife's family had an Indian Lady who made the best curries I have tasted. I remember once she made me a curry with the little green devil chillies. That was the only time I had to take them out as they were way too hot. Have a great day.

I really enjoyed the look about your boat. Several features we didn't have on our craft, particularly the solar panels and diesel stove.. While I really enjoy the heat from a wood/coal burning stove it's pretty messy . Always lots of ash to dispose of.

Yes, I could live in it! Lived in/on many unusual things, towing caravans, converted a 41 seater couch, small motorhome, 8 metre bobcat catamaran and 10 metre bobcat catamaran. Ancient now so living in bricks and mortar (good investment to leave to the children and grandchildren).

You can do it! What’s the budget? Start by having a look at some boats and their layout. We had a smaller boat first 40ft to decide if we liked ❤️ we did and upgraded to Border Reiver. There are lots of useful FG groups. Watch some of our other videos and drop us some questions. Look forward to hearing how it all goes xx

A very nicely kitted out narrow boat , looks great . I wouldnt worry about carrying stuff in yiu car Michael . I used tomwork on building sites in the past and now and agian ld load the car up (my wifes ford Fiesta she had , for instance when l had 6 garage roof trusses on the roof and a load of timber left over from site , l even managed to break the front winscreen when l slammed tge hatch back down , 6 ft length went straight through the windsreen ) ..... l also loaded my dads fiesta with chipboard flooring once to go into the loft (slighty damaged flooring from site again) .... No wot l mean 😉.... great video as always ... Damn l think l hear sirens 🚨 😳.....

Just started watching you two episodes now. Molly Mae and Tommy mentioned you on their channel so I thought I'd check it out and I love what you have the only thing is is there's always a negative vibe about animals that you show everything else seems to be happy

And I have Tabasco on everything and here was me thinking I was a daft git taking it with me to put on Pizza Hut pizza. Just now started on Ghost Pepper hot sauce and Carolina Reaper. Beautiful inside and beautifully done. I know nothing of wood, what wood is inside boat or compressed plyboard? I’m guessing Maple wood. Be honest, how much cleaning had to be done before video?😂 Seriously very snug on inside and warm. Must be nice to be in there during inclement weather.🥶☔️⚡️

Hi there, lovely comments thank you 🙏 we so appreciate them all. Not sure what the wood is, we keep it well conditioned so it should last for a long time. I’d like to say lots of cleaning but we do tend to keep it like you saw it n the video all the time 👍. Ah yes it is really cosy in cold weather but also not too hot in warm weather either. Best of both worlds. 😀😀

Hi. Hope you are well. We actually don’t use the bed extended so didn’t think to pull the extension out and it needs a mattress infill which we don’t have. Our friends have a boat like ours and they pull there’s out and use the filler and they love it. It comes out about 6’ 👍❤️

Hi, thanks for the tour, its all looking very nice. 57ft outside, what does you have inside useable length and width ? I have never seen a narrowboat in real, and can only guess. How this layout is called? And whats the reason duck-hatches (?) have no glas in ? Hope you have smooth cruises!

Great to hear from you and thanks for the lovely compliment about our little floating home. The layout is a cruise astern where you have the larger deck at the back for steering and chilling with a glass of wine. With some of the duck hatches you can get a panel of perspect which slides in to keep the rain out, we haven't got one sadly. We hope you are catching up with some of our other videos. Very good how do you find solar, as they only chare ifthe sun is out. Especially in winter months and overcast conditionz. Very well fittet out like some peoples homes

Hi I enjoyed your video I love your boat. I'm sure others have said but you're wasting power every time you use your inverter for things like the TV aerial amplifier and charging your phones and tablets. You lose power on the way up to 240 v and then you're going all the way down to maybe 5 volts for your phones. Much better to get a 12 volt amplifier and 12v USB supply as well as 12 volts power supplies for the laptops. 😊

Hello, I notice on most narrow boats that the fridge is always small. Is this because of space and how much power a full size fridge would use? I'd imagine that with having a small fridge you'd be going shopping more often to replenish it?

Hi John. Yes they are small and yes it’s about space and power. Ours is a 12v one, works well with our batteries. You’d be really surprised how much you can fit in it!! The freezer section is massive… we love salmon so it’s packed with it. I’m also very good at packing the food in there, Michael always asks me to get something out cos I just know what’s on each shelf. Great questions thank you, we love reading and answering them all. 🙏🙏

Hi Matthew thanks for the comment. We don't find we have too many problems as Border Reiver is kept very well ventilated, we always have a window open. They are well insulted and there is always lots of circulating air. Hope you are enjoying watching? xx

I believe that boaters use special environmentally safe products with any process that produces gray water.

We have rented our house out in the passed, a lot of live aboard boaters do do that. We have Michael's pension and we both work from our tiny floating home with our fantastic onboard wifi. Hope you continue to enjoy our adventures.

In september 2021, hubby and 2 friends hired a narrowboat for a week...............NEVER again. It was the worst week of my life. We hired from Friday to Friday but from the monday I was so ill, and just wanted to go home. It was cold and the man we were with wouldn't let us have the heat on. It was warm by day but once night came i was freezing. We got back to the hire place on the Thursday late afternoon. You've never seen someone pack so fast. Once we got home and i rang for a Drs appointment I was told i should have called an ambulance on the Monday. But that would have meant I'd have to go into a hospital in Oxford. Supposepart of the company we had didn't help, but once we got home, before i could say anything to hubby, he said, and i knew he was going to say NEVER again, we ended up saying it together!
