Narrowboat v Wind. Which one wins?

Whilst carrying out some simple TLC on Wee May, Lumpy and Mrs Lumsden battle with strong winds on an exposed section of their home moorings at Huddlesford Junction.
A full 25 minutes later, they manage to moor the boat back up again!
At least the boat got a decent wash at last!

Been there, done it. always good for the onlookers, and of course the wise guys who say how it ought to have been done. Like this. Don't bother with hauling on bow and stern lines. Make sure the shore crew keeps hold of the mid line. When you're somewhere near your mooring point belay the mid line to a bollard, then motor against it. Pure geometry means that as you put tension on the line, the boat as a whole will move closer to the bank. If necessary you can then motor in the opposite direction giving the shore crew opportunity to shorten the line, then motor against it again. Your blue paintwork looks nice. I used Owatrol restorer last year on black cabin sides. Brilliant.

Well, I've not laughed so much since I watched Trotters Independent Trading remove that expensive chandelier. 😂 Nice to see Mrs L make a cameo appearance. Still as gorgeous as ever. Anyway, Wee May is looking a lot cleaner and it will be interesting to see you painting over the rust spots. Keep up the good work Lumpy.

I did the same as you the other day trying to get on are diesel jetty what a bloody nightmare job was on my own with a 65 ft monster which had other Ideas on where to go after pulling my heart out I finally won the battle bloody wind its was like pulling a cruise liner in to berth never mind a narrowboat. hence any remote chance of wind now the boat stays put till its a better day . hope you have fun out there enjoy . Haha 😂 how horrendous was that, I think I’d of been pulled straight into the drink. The clean up went well though, hope the rust issue didn’t prove too troublesome. Have a lovely weekend guys 👍

@@NarrowboatNatterings not at all 😂 I hired a boat a couple a months ago and hopped of with the centre line in hand. Took the strain and tried to slow the last bit of forward motion. It seemed to get quicker instead of slowing and then I noticed the prop was still churning water. To say I panicked was an understatement. I had to shout for my oblivious wife to clamber out and straighten the lever up 😂 That was embarrassing

I make a good scrubber!!! That wind was impossible!!! I bloody hope it looks nice! Can't get back to it for a while. It had better not get dirty again yet!

Well that was a fun day for you with that wind. Has Mrs L got her own fashion line now? I was watching another vlogger, Slow Boat Through Britain, saw either you or your doppelganger episode 171 skip tp 20:06 min mark near the south end of the Harecastle tunnel.
