I only know of this version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rn_Oi5SIfpKYgrM When you restore noisy/damaged audio, unfortunately some detail has to be sacrificed to remove some noise. Perhaps some of the Spanish dialogue in the section to which you refer is a little more preserved in the noisier 'original.'

@@10String Hi Viktor, Do you know if Yepes ever played Ohana's "Si le jour parait"? I don't think he recorded it, and the 1st piece (Temple) is dedicated to Alberto Ponce.

Rob, I'm sorry, you'd have to ask a "Yepes scholar" (whatever the fuck that is, though some J. Wellington Wimpy-looking fool from Utah seems to imagine there are such things). Let me say, here, what interests me about "Yepes" is the fact that there are *ideas* (not the bloviating pseudo-poetics, cutesy faces, and never-ending eulogies that attend Segovia's "classical guitar") and not 'ideas' meant for mindless repetition but ideas that can be applied to new contexts beyond those known to Yepes -- to creativity, which seems to be in short supply in the world of "the classical guitar" in recent decades. What is of no value, in my view, is to do what the likes of Dishonest Duarte and Word-salad Wade did concerning Segovia, which is to document every biographical factoid short of the old man's toilet schedule that could somehow be made to fit their traditions (their verbal chamber of mirrors) concerning "the classical guitar." Everything these people have touched they've poisoned to death, including their own propaganda magazines. I have no interest in any of that, so, please, please, I'm not the person to ask about biographical factoids. What I will say is this: Ohana was an important figure for the 1950s for striking a first blow against the dominance of serialism, among other creativity-stifling doctrines of the period that included the notion (antithetical to Romanticism) that there are some elites who *know* the music-itself and whose recorded or recommended performances, thus, have to be copied or "executed" without personal interpretation -- a misguided notion that Yepes opposed. So, of course, there was a sympathy between these two progressive figures. Yepes performed at least some of the pieces from "Si le jour paraît..." (I remember "Jeu des quatre vents" from one of the advertised programmes and, I think, another movement.) But it was important for him to consider his listeners, which is the same reason why he didn't subject a general audience to all 12 of the Villa-Lobos studies in a live performance, let alone all 30+ minutes of Ohana, even for a recording. (He did perform and record the 30-minute Suite by Miguel Cherubito, which is more difficult than Ohana and Villa-Lobos, but it's also more listenable.) Unlike Milton Babbitt, Narciso Yepes *cared* that people listened. I'll add, it's beyond me why almost every Tom, Dick, and Harry on a 10-string guitar today wants to make yet another Ohana recording that almost nobody wants to hear. (The same goes for Bach's lute works, unless one actually has something new to say.) This music *was* pertinent over half a century ago. The world has moved on. And it has even moved on from there.

Hi Viktor, Thanks for the reply. Si le jour parait (especially Temple) is on of the reasons I bought a 10 str. I met Ohana some time ago at a concert of his piano music and asked if he was going to write more guitar music. He said no, and that his last work was a guitar duo: Anonyme XXe siecle. He encouraged me to get a 10str. Yepes said that Cherubito's suite always got the most applause of all the pieces in his repertoire. Have you recorded the Cherubito suite. Hope you are well.

Unfortunately not. I cannot translate the Japanese and it is almost impossible for me to translate the Spanish when there is a Japanese voice-over at the same time.
