I've seen both sub and dub there both good. I always recommend watching a series in dub if your someone who is new to watching anime . Especially if your watching Naruto because it occasionally does information dumps on you and people sometimes get lost in the story or miss some things

I've gone back to watch some of these episodes sub, and I have to say, the dub really does seem to hold up with this particular series!

I like both. I love the sub more but if dub works better for you, then that's what you should do. In total naruto has 220 episodes. Naruto shippuden has 500 episodes.
