At least we got one more moment before Shippuden. Also, Shippuden itself had a thing against all the side characters. Aside from Naruto, if your name wasn't Sasuke, good luck getting any screen time.

@@CasualVideoGamer True. That is a big big flaw in Naruto Shippuden. They should have given screen time to all leaf team genins. The series would have been longer but the story and the depth for the character would have made it so much better. But also it should be said that in Lee's case he could have suffered a trauma of never being a shinobi ever again so he started being more cautious about himself, but considering how the other character were treated its very likely that isn't the case. Anyways for me at least OG Naruto is goated in my book.

@@peolfpetler8500 it's a shame but I think the author was getting chased by deadline after deadline since Naruto was a weekly manga so he chose to cast all the side characters

@@AK-MS27 Gaara got some screen time at the beginning, then nothing until the war and even then it was only some last-minute reveal that the sand WAS ACTUALLY his mother. Essentially just giving him closure. Aside from that, nothing. Shikamaru got a bit more attention, given the Hidan fight and his involvement in planning out things with the war. Even so, it was still insanely little. Like they have this dude who supposedly has a 200 IQ yet all they used him for was the Chuunin Exams and to escort folks around.

You know what? Sakura worked hard to wear Sasuke down, but if it wasn't for that, I'd ship her with Lee.

The problem is that they don't give us a reason to why she loves Sasuke other than he cool and hot. It comes off as superficial. Maybe if they show Sasuke giving her more compliments or have him show more signs of caring. It would make more sense she would develop feelings and more people be on board. Also it doesn't help they don't do anything with Sakura character in part 1 other than "oh I like Sasuke". Even during her "big character" moment during the forest of death. Afterwards she still doesn't train or do anything. She just crys, worries and visits Sasuke at the hospital. It not until we get to part 2 when we finally she her do something else. For example why not show her train with Kurenai on genjutsu after the Forest of death. That would explain how she knew to release the genjutsu at the stadium during sand and sound invasion. Rather her learn how off screen from a book.

@@theinsurance2450 It's frustrating how even in part 2, she only became atrong because of her feelings for Sasuke--which would be fine if she felt anything for him besides a superficial crush. Sasuke returning her feelings eventually also don't make any sense. I'd have loved it if Sakura trained with Kurenai so that her genjutsu and dispelling would make her a food opponent/rival to Sasuke to the point where he respects (and eventually loves) her.

@@OpticalSorcerer getting training from Kurenai would have given Kurenai more screen time as well. Since she don't have a lot. Sakura could have been master Medical and genjutsu ninja.

The moment Lee came to rescue Sakura in the Forest and seeing this episode her giving many flowers to Lee, this was the beginning for me to be a die hard LeeSaku fan. I am still to these day a big fan of this underreated but healthy shipping(besides NaruSaku).
