I don't know how many people actually realize this when watching the episode, but at the part of Naruto's big moment where he gets the buff of the Fox's chakra, the big flare of chakra before it actually starts circulating is the Fox cleansing Naruto's chakra points. Also, something that I've never seen anyone mention when Kiba talks about how his underestimating Naruto landed him on the stands while Naruto's out in the finals. Kiba's loss is even worse in hindsight, since he lost to Naruto afflicted by the Five-Pronged Seal, messing with his already poor chakra control. Imagine how much worse it would have been for Kiba if Naruto had had time to see the Third Hokage before the preliminaries began. As the sensei of both Jiraiya and Orochimaru, I can't imagine the Five-Pronged Seal and its key being jutsu he doesn't know.

Neji's never been shown to miss at any other time. 2) Naruto was rendered incapable of fighting Neji in all shinobi skills, for at least a few minutes, yet the proctor never called the match in that time. The proctor in particular was denied agency from that time until AFTER Naruto drew on the Fox's chakra, despite having no reason to believe beforehand that Naruto could even draw on that 2nd chakra source. 3) There was no explanation as to how Naruto's single punch to Neji's chin rendered Neji paralyzed. And there was no evidence that he was using Nine tails chakra to do it.

Let's be honest, anyone who lives in the real world knows that just because you work hard that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get an equal reward for it. Neji has natural talent and works hard, but is stuck in a branch house position while his less talented cousins are in the head household. What's fair about that?

Personally, I would have been fine with Naruto winning, so long as he actually earned it. And at this point, the way that this fight went, I also would have preferred Neji winning, given the poor battle decisions Naruto made. Seriously, you don't just run at someone with an OP (and lethal) skillset and expect to have time to learn how to counter him (which he wouldn't have had if Neji didn't "miss" that first strike at his chakra points, OR if Neji's Gentle Fist style damaged a major internal organ at the start). Naruto was legit being a dumbass, and Kishimoto rewarded him in spite of it.

Yes, that upset me. I remember watching it for the first time and being so worried that something had happened when he was with Kakashi. His whole mantra of "Work hard and try" would be completely meaningless if he was just fated to be Hokage all along.
