@Serje Frederick Everyone has their own opinions. I think that pretty much everyone thinks that Pain looks awesome, and Pain’s origin story is very captivating so its no surprise that people like the character. This arc hit me very hard mainly because of how close I saw Jiraiya was to Naruto and how Naruto reacted to the death of his teacher and father figure.

@@lthughes I have the same issue. I also think my life is a waste. It's probably why that bit with Jiraiya is so relatable. Unfortunately I'm not sure I have an answer for you as I'm still trying to figure that out for myself. Perhaps worth isn't tied to accomplishment, but to character. Perhaps being the best you that you can be, even if it makes no difference to anyone else is enough to make your life worthwhile.

I feel like music is the key to our real selves. When this music is playing when Jiraiya dies or whatever beautiful music it may be, it literally touches us and opens us and we let our true wishes flow through our mind. When I hear this music I want to tell everyone of my loved ones what they mean to me and I want to do good in the world like Jiraiya. It‘s like through the whole day we just act a role and try to portray something. We try to determine who we are in that way. But when such music plays it‘s like we then know who we really are deep down.

As someone that literally grew up watching Naruto, from the day it began airing in the US, Jiraiya meant a lot to me as a character. To this day he is one of my favorite characters of all time, for a myriad of reasons. This episode is forever one of the hardest episodes of anime for me to watch, I can get emotional just hearing the audio (especially dubbed as its what I grew up with and saw the episode for the first time with.) So, I feel your pain.

Jiraiya's death hit me harder than any other anime character's death, even that one in OP. That shoulder tap on Naruto was like a punch to the heart. He didn't even get to say goodbye. Even mentioning Jiraiya in Boruto is said. Say what you want about Boruto; while it is true it will not be nearly as good as Naruto, it is okay as a separate anime and nice to see the Naruto characters and where they are.

This is one of those moments, why Naruto is my absolute favourite Story. The emotions are SO high, and you get SO attached to these characters, especially if you read/ watched this series weekly since it started. Jiraiya will forever be one of my top 3 naruto characters. I cried so hard when I watched him slip away with a smile on his face, and I couldn't hold the tears back watching this again. Thank you Roger, I'm glad I could see you experience this firsthand

Honestly whats more heartbreaking than his death to me is the super negative way he saw himself. It hurts more knowing that's how he thought

There is a reason why Pain Arc, Chimera ant Arc, Marineford war saga and Return to Shighansinha are the 4 most favourite arcs in my anime experience. They are all goats. Pain arc just began. And shout out for Jiraiya sensei, Netero, Whitebeard and Commander Erwin to make those arcs as remarkable as they are. GOAT characters.

I also cried at this part and one with Sasuke and... You know. But honestly, Shikamaru mourning for Asuma made me cry more than this. I find it interesting how different scenes make different people more emotional. Love it actually. There's also one backstory of a certain villain which also broke me as much as Shikamaru's mourning of Asuma. Dope stuff Roger, as always!

That moment where Naruto felt the presence of dying Jiraiya is a real phenomenon. I felt it myself with the passing of my childhood dog. I knew he died before I could have reasonably known. Rest In Peace.

I remember watching this episode maybe 6 7 years ago. I could not finish watching this episode bc of crying, I cried like a baby. I was so sad and shocked and that jiraiya, my fav character and also the mentor of naruto, died. After passing all these years, I have the same feeling that I had years ago. Thanks Roger! RIP Jiraiya, the great man!

Ngl, watching this moment with you on stream was like watching this the first time, both this one and itachi’s. It is one of the most impactful moments in the entire story for sure. I was crying and laughing at the same time because of how accurate the reaction is to everyone else that watched Naruto.

Thank you for posting this Roger. I secretly hoped this episode would get its own reaction. It 100% deserves it. I still remember not only feeling the loss of a loved one through Jiraiya’s death, but also the incredible fear that Pain’s presence warranted as the antagonist of this arc. Knowing that he so easily defeated the one who was initially chosen for 5th Hokage made it clear that what was to come for the leaf village was worse than anything prior.

The part where jirayas ghost hand touches narutos shoulder in the end there was anime only, i think. Butt a pretty good add on. Reminds me of that one piece opening when ace ghost pushes luffy, or when bellemare pushes nami in that anime only scene btw try and react to rdcwords1 when your favorite anime character dies. Its only 1:42 long but you will relate to it alot. We all have
