I like how with the introduction of the Kages you can also see the dynamic each one share with their bodyguards. Kankuro and Temari treat their younger brother with the reverence deserving of his title. Ao and the Mizukage talk almost as equals, as they've lived through the darkest era of their village, while she treats Chojuro, someone who didn't experience it, like a child. The two at the Tsuchikage's side are far more familiar with him and are more than comfortable making playful jabs at his age. Then there's the Raikage who with his brolic physique smashes through his office window, while Cee and Darui sigh in exasperation as if it's just a common accordance. It's also funny that the Kazekage and Mizukage walk out of their respective villages with dignity and pride, while the Tsuchikage gets carried and the Raikage smashes through his office window.

Imo the pain arc is the best arc in all anime (my opinion) but it would've been a terrible place to end it. the stuff after that is still great and while the quality of writing kinda goes down, i still love it. One thing interresting about the Mizukage Mei...she's from the era of the Blood mist village like Ao, while Chojiro is from the new village post Zabuza massacre...She's pretty much a product of both reality, being both kind and ruthless...Can't be a more perfect fit for this trouble village ! Also that whole play on word about marriage is hard to translate from japanese...It makes more sense when you know her power...She pretty much is a volcano !! Dormant and nice a moment, then super explosive !

Suraj can be Danzo. Though he might make a good fence sitter, it's because of that he makes sense for Danzo. He feels the least strongly about absolutely not being Danzo. I don't think you could convince the other two to take Danzo's role. A-O is fine. I think that's how they pronounce it in the sub. I think the subs used to say, "Shut up, or I'll kill you." That's a bit more concise than the dubs make it sound. On the other hand, if Navi is the Mizukage, no one needs to be Danzo.
