All of the forums were saying it, he had the same power as Kakashi's Mangekyou and his right arm got ripped off twice only for him to mysteriously get a new one (in his fight with Danzo's bodyguards and his fight with Minato). People who didn't believe that Tobi was Obito (such as myself) just thought making Obito the villain was stupid and/or making Obito alive the entire time undercuts the tragedy and emotion of Kakashi Gaiden.

Most people had guessed it but went off that route since people didn't understand how a 14-15 year old obito could almost beat minato and helped itachi with the uchiha massacre ...and he couldnt be in his 20's so ..so it was a shock ..that day of chapter 600 aka the tobi reveal on the internet will live in infamy ...like the internet exploded ....it was marvelous ..no manga has been able to do that since ... the day of itachis death was semi big same for jiraya the death of kakashi ..hinata stabbing the death of garra naruto beating pain naruto vs sasuke both fights are big madara dying the kaguya reveal her defeat the new 3 way summoning team 7 being back the ships revealed ...the chapter 700 release drama shit .. were big moments im not sure any shonnen manga can get to ever again besides one piece ..like it was nuts ..tobi being obito broke the fandom more than tobi coming back to life and giving kakash the non uchiha perfect susanoo ..and ripped our hearts and ideas heads even more in half then that moment did ...

People gave Malie Flanagan so much shit, but I don't see why for two reasons: 1. She sounds pretty close to Junko Takeuchi, granted, with a lower voice. 2. Naruto saying "Believe it" every other sentence is annoying, but not "Dattebayo?"

+Josh Sinclair Most people don’t understand Japanese or know very much about the language, so people are able to project their own idealized perception on how they think the characters sound based on the foreign sounds they hear. Don’t get me wrong, many Japanese voice actors are amazing and incredibly talented, but western viewers tend to overpraise them and become too critical over English voices because they’re either biased since the Japanese voices are what they hear and get accustomed to first, or they end up irrationally loving the performance of the foreign actors more because they speak in sounds and inflections they don’t normally hear, causing them to grow enamored by how unique Japanese voices sound. So basically, since people can’t understand Japanese, they don’t really hear or get annoyed by Naruto constantly saying ‘Dattebayo’ so often, especially since all the dialogue they need to see is read in subs and not heard. I personally like watching and comparing both the sub and dub of many shows I watch for the fun of it, and I enjoy both casts of Naruto. Malie Flanigan did a great job voicing him.

Josh Sinclair I personally loved Malie Flanagan as Naruto. I love the Dub voices. I started watching Naruto dubbed first, and later watched it subbed. I like both cast and I can watch Naruto with either cast and it makes me full of joy. I never understood sub only fans hate for the dub voices.

I think a pretty big reason why people don't get as annoyed with "dattebayo" as they do with "believe it" is because it's presented as a natural verbal tick, and not a catchphrase. I think that's probably why they canned it after a few episodes. It would've gotten annoying really quickly. On the Japanese perspective, it kinda flows into the conversation naturally. If you compare that to Konohamaru, who has the habit of saying " kore" at the end of sentences or phrases, it seems like a natural form of communication. It's the same for Dragon Ball too. Masako Nozawa voices the son family in it's entirety, but they all have different verbal ticks. Goku is a bumpkin, so he talks with a "hick" accent (it's the same for Chi-Chi too). Gohan is better mannered than his parents, so he talks with a very formal tone, and he uses very formal Japanese, as if he was talking to someone of higher status constantly. I think Goten is probably a mix of both Chi-Chi and Goku, but I really haven't heard enough of him to make a full consensus on that. I honestly love the "believe it" phrase, because it reminded me of cheesy superheroes and just corny early-mid 2000s dialogue. While I prefer the Japanese version(most simply because Shippuden isn't readily available for me in english yet without me going on one of those "anime online" sites), the english dub of Naruto has a lot to offer, and those who flat out hat it just for Flanagan are just being an elitist for the sake of it

Actually, Obito's kid form is only voiced by Sosuke in his first two episodes. From the war onward, he is voiced by Megumi Han, who plays Gon in Hunter x Hunter; ironically, Gon's original voice actress, Junko Takeuchi, would go on to play Naruto, who is constantly compared to Obito.

I remember looking ont he behind the vas page and being confused about when and who Tobi was voiced, but this actually cleared it up for me. I was damn fucking surprised to find out Tobi was actually Obito because at the time I was into the series {Ten years ago...} it wasn't a definite pointer at Obito aaaand Madara was also my favourite, so I guess I just really wanted it to be him. Naruto was my introduction into anime, and despite my love-hate relationship to the series, I still hold the opinion that it had an excellent.dub. So I found this interesting and fun.

I think it's a real shame Vic didn't become the official adult Obito. Of the actors who play him, Vic was my favorite. I think the others do a good job, but they let too much nihlism seep into the performance. Obito's nihlism is supposed to be just of his many masks. Vic's performance makes him sound like someone desperately hiding how much pain's in, which I think nails the character far better.

While Vic would've done a good job, the directors probably wanted to cast the old guy that voice him, not for consistency in the Japanese version, but because Vic was already two major characters. It would have been jarring.

I understand that it's not always possible to account for something like this in an ongoing series, especially while translations are going on, but it's a real shame Kishimoto couldn't have just, you know, told the producers what his intentions were so insane rigamaroles like this wouldn't happen. This situation almost makes it sound like the English producers didn't know it was Obito under the mask until it was revealed in the manga.

I have figured it out..all you really need to watch is about 88 actual episodes of both Naruto series combined the last 2 movies and the hokage day 10 minute ova and your caught up and can watch the boruto anime ..naruto only is present in about 88 episodes ..35 of the original naruto episodes matter to narutos character while the rest don't and about 53 in shippuden out of 500..yeah 88 episodes 2 movies 1 ova out of 720 episodes 10+ movies 5+ ovas actually matter ....think about it ....of the og Naurto only really episodes 1,5,8,14-19, 25,29,45,47,54,59-62, 77-80, 94,107-108 127-135, 220 ..see only 35 matter ...then you got shippuden ....episodes 31, 50, 88, 152-154, 163, 166-169 ,172 ,174-175 , 215, 216, 245-246, 249, 261, 275, 283, 296, 321, 322, 329, 343, 364-365, 384-385 387, 389, 390, 393, 421, 424-426, 455, 459, 463, 470-479 , 480, 500...really these 88 episodes plus naruto the last movie and the ova tell narutos entire story I'm not joking...and it would only take you about 45 days to watch it all ...2 episodes a day about 48 50 minutes combined ...watch the ova and final episode 500 back to back after the last movie and boom 45 days....wow how easy ...if you watched 3 episodes a day you can watch it all in about 31 days ...1 month

You using the logo for American Ninja Warrior and calling it an adaptation rather than a translation implies that what you're saying is that American Ninja Warrior premiered when Naruto did and used Dave Whittenberg as the narrator and if that's what you're saying, you're wrong. He was the narrator for the translation and airing of the Japanese version of Ninja Warrior (Sasuke) whereas Amerrican Ninja Warrior had it's own announcers and didn't air until 3 years after Naruto started airing.
