Sasuke is scared that naruto May end up becoming Itachi’s rival instead

honestly, I used to think Sasuke was a brat but after rewatching naruto (like 6 times) I realized that his emotions and actions he ends up taking are completely valid. Your whole clan was taken out, no longer do you have people like you to look at and see, to mentor you. the one person from your clan that is still alive is your brother, but he wiped out the whole clan. someone you trusted. I would be vengeful too. you keep on training and training to become more powerful, but it feels like you are getting nowhere and when you finally meet the man who took everything from you, you can't do shit. you're just thinking what have you been doing this whole time? why has nothing improved? Why am I still that weak kid that witnessed my clan die?

With sasuke at this point it’s wayyyyyy more about itachi. You have gaara that came and beat sasuke claiming that he had more hate than him, itachi beat him so bad that made sasuke question his whole life thus far and also claims he doesn’t have enough hate. And THEN you have naruto who was almost a dropout to being comparable if not more powerful than sasuke. All of these factors lead sasuke to the conclusion that he’ll never get strong enough to avenge his clan with the way he’s doing things rn
