Manga/anime takes so many liberties with how they depict characters of various ages. A character like Naruto looks like a 10 year old and a character like Itachi looks like a 30 year old (in that scene) when they're both supposedly 13. The most voluptuous character in the show is genuinely cheating to look the way she does, if anything, Naruto is the LEAST ridiculous on that front... Personally, I dont think Itachi looks 30 here. That being said, I don't think Itachi had an exactly known age here yet. His design DOES look around low 20s imo. Naruto is pretty bad about plot consistency with a lot of background scenarios, like how Naruto supposedly had no friends growing up, but they kept making him look like he was friends with Choji, Shikamaru, and Kiba at an early age.

I do know that Fire Style was the most common affinity amongst uchihas(which is why fire-ball jutsu is a staple move of the Uchihas), but from what I've read in the manga you only have 1 initial nature transformation affinity, but you can go out of your way to learn and be adept in another Nature transformation before ever learning the one you have an affinity for. And that's what apparently happened for the likes of Sasuke, Kakashi and even Boruto. Cause they got naturally good at something they didnt have a complete affinity in, initially... Unless maybe I'm mistaken and there can be varying degrees of affinities for mulitiple Nature transformations?

...OR Kishimoto (the author) hadn't come up with the idea of each ninja having a genetic affinity for one element of ninjutsu yet. It was never stated at any time in the og series and multiple ninja are throwing different elemental attacks all the time, like Kakashi, Sasuke, and even the Hokages. When Kakashi first introduces the move we later know as Chidori during the Zabuza arc, its just called "Raikiri" (Lighting Blade), then when Sasuke learns it we learn about its "true" name, which is clearly something he came up with later and decided to retcon. Nevertheless, every time Sasuke uses Chidori he never says "Lightning Style" or anything like that. I'm pretty sure these are just flashy magical spells that in theory anybody could learn if they have enough chakra, chakra control, and practice with weaving all the handsigns

One thing that I always appreciate in early Naruto is that the more you rewatch it as an adult the more you find yourself to notice very not kid material and be amazed how mature it is. I had this ark on DVD disk and were rewatching it constantly as a kid but my favourite moment were always fight. Now as an adult my favourite moment is that moment with Shikamaru. Sending bunch of 12-15 years old to such mission is mind boggling. And from such mission everyone ot only came alive but also take down 5 ninjas with average Jonin level potential. No wonder Shikamaru cried out after hearing everyone is survived. That is MIRACLE. As a kid you just think that is what is supposed to be since they are main characters. As an adult you just in a shock. It immediately reminds you that this is the world after war. Previous generation of kids fought in a World War of this universe at the age of 13 and this ones are trained and raised by the standards of training them to new one. This is indeed an ark that molded that boys into men. OG Naruto were way mature for its intended audience and that is beautiful

Naruto never was a kids show. It's a shonen, which literally meant for teens and it shows. A lot of pretty heavy, adult stuff and imagery, definitely not meant for kids. I also love og Naruto more than Shippuden. It feels more gritty and grounded and more mature somehow, in certain moments at least. Also had this old school feel to it, especially in the early episodes. The drawing quality on average is better, IMO. And also while Shippuden ost is great, but og OST is just a masterpiece.

8:08 This translation means so much to me. In the English Dub, Sasuke says, _"That guy_ who dreamed of a happy future full of peace and friendship... HE was the one who was asleep." *I always thought me was dissing the old Hokage and I hated him for it.* But no. Sasuke was talking about his old, "idiotic" self. It's such a minor change but it makes such a difference.

Sasuke's father, Fugaku, is the leader of the Uchiha. He fought in the Third Great Shinobi War and was said to be one of the Leaf's strongest. He was also a candidate for Fourth Hokage. His nickname was Wicked Eye Fugaku. The foreshadowing in this series is crazy. The statues. The flashback with Itachi. It's absolutely crazy.
