Here’s the actual timeline of the diss records: Jay’s takeover was 1st heard in June of 2001 on summer jam stage. On stage Jay said “Ask Nas he don’t want it hov.” Then in August of 2001, Nas dropped the Stillmatic freestyle. Then Jay released his album blueprint with takeover as a full song in September of 2001. Then Nas released Ether on December 4th of 2001 which was Jay birthday🤣🤣. So essentially Nas did drop Stillmatic freestyle & Ether back to back. Then Jay released supa ugly on December 11 but by then everybody said Nas won as soon as Ether dropped. Then ppl definitely said Ether won after jay dropped supa ugly because nobody liked that record because it simply wasn’t good. It was just disrespectful but it wasn’t a good record. After that the rest is history, Nas was universally known as the winner. Nas also dropped his entire Stillmatic album on December 17th of 2001 with Ether on it ofcourse too.

The eye for an eye freestyle was during that time period as well. Then in 2002 Jay dropped the Blueprint 2, which included the title track which was a Nas diss. Then Nas finished it off with Last Real Nigga Alive off God's Son. After that there were a few subliminal shots here and there, until they finally squashed the beef at that I Declare War concert.
