There are many different causes of nasal stuffiness. But some patients or even people without any disease say that one of their nostrils is blocked, after a while it opens and the other is blocked. This may be physiological congestion of the nose; we call it “the nasal cycle”. I edited an endoscopy video for this, I will try to explain from there. Inferior nasal turbinates swell and shrink alternately in cycles of three hours. It is very difficult to observe this by watching directly; that's why I created this record. Here we are looking at the patient's right nostril with an endoscope, and this is the left nostril. I will show a time-lapse of a video of nearly three hours; this three-hour video has been reduced to about 30 seconds.
