UPDATE - • Nasal Polyp Surgery Up...
TechGooch Store - www.bonfire.com/store/techgooch/
Take a ride with me for a surgery 15 years in the waiting...it is finally time to get my Nasal Polyps taken care of and straighten my septum. I have been saving up for this surgery for the past 3 years, and it is time to stop taking so many medications to try to counter act what surgery can help long term. I will eventually follow up this video with another, so ask any questions you have below and I will try to answer them if I can! Also at the same time as the Nasal Surgery, since I was going to be asleep anyway I had a Vasectomy done as well, so when I talk about downstairs, this is what I am speaking to.

@@moorfyaapreston2845 My surgery was very extensive, but it went well. Polypectomy was one of six procedures and all six were bilateral. Day 1 virtually pain free. Days 2&3 sore around bridge of nose, inside of eye-sockets, between eye-brows. Not terrible. Much less than I imagined. Managed by tylenol only. Was give oxy, but have taken none. Breathing through my nose and sleeping like a baby for the first time in years. Today is day 5. Amazing progress and not anywhere near the misery I was expecting. So thankful and cannot wait to see what it's like in a couple of weeks!

@@iwatchyoutube6025 In a few days I go in for my 3 month checkup. Still sleeping well and doing great. Basically feel normal. Still sound a little nasally. Smell is coming back after 2 1/2 years with zero smell. The recovery has been so much easier than I expected. Never took anything more than Tylenol. At my last check-in, I was told that what I got was about extensive as it gets. It's pretty incredible to me that it has been that simple of a recovery. I sleep and breath so much better. I will be rinsing with a neti-pot with steroids (budesonide) indefinitely to keep the polyps from coming back. Simple enough. So worth it.

Just had it done today my fears about surgery did not outweigh the constant gagging on nasal post drip, not being able to breathe in both nostrils, shallow breathing, some days struggling to eat and breathe, not sleeping well, the sinus pressure, inner ear pressure, feeling nauseous, not feeling myself, feeling drained, I was lucky because large polyps were removed from both nostrils and although I am changing dressings frequently due to bleeding, I have not been in any pain, not sneezing feels like my nostrils are tingling, even with a dressing I feel much better

I was unable to breathe. My surgeon work's Alot with children. Surgery took longer bc they where in the upper sinuses. He doesn't pack and it was pretty much pain free. Just a patch under the nose. It was done Friday. I went into the office and did paperwork for half a day and Tuesday back running equipment. Just didn't do anything stupid and Bc of no packing I could slightly blow my nose. Probably the easiest surgery I have had. Apparently your soft or a slow healer. Drs around here quit packing a Long time ago. So I'm going to think the Dr working on kids was the difference.

I'm really glad surgery worked for you. I don't have polyps, rather just really bad allergic rhinitis that went undiagnosed for decades. Felt like I was sick with the flu much of the time and it got worse when I got a pet. Made me feel like I wanted to surgically cut out or cauterize my sinuses cause I could barely breathe and my nose was worse than a leaky faucet. Absolute misery, feels impossible to live like that. Thankfully I'm on medication nowadays, and will soon be starting immunotherapy. But the meds don't work 100% of the time and cost me an arm and a leg. I wonder if surgery is something I should consider.

Just had this surgery today as my polyps were very severe and causing so much drainage and chronic sinusitis that I was getting recurring pneumonia. While the recovery is rough, I'm actually less miserable than I was before the fact. (To be fair, my ENT said I'm one of the worst case he's ever seen.) Some things I've learned: the sore throat isn't from the breathing tube, it's from nasal drip running into the throat and it can be severely sore. This is common. Also, the pain/numbness on the roof of the mouth has something to do with the local numbing anesthetic wearing off and apparently not from anyone pushing on it during the prodecure, which makes sense because I never saw this happen in any of the videos. I'd be curious to see a followup on whether yours came back. My ENT said they can treat remaining polyps with medications now to keep them at bay so that future surgeries may not be necessary.

I had mine not long after u had yours I had mine a week ago so 4 days after yours and I must say being able to breathe through your nostril is a different feeling I’ve been having breathing problems since I was young a little child so I was never able to breathe through my nose like that until the polyps were removed It didn’t hurt for me tbh at all it’s just uncomfortable as you want to touch/move your nose but you can’t and yh and the bleeding stopped for me after 36hours from when I had the surgery they did give me medication that I needed to have twice a day for the next 2 days after surgery to stop the bleeding which it did and antibiotics for a week after surgery After I’d say 4 days of surgery I just blew my nose slowly and slowly and it removed the small blood clots out which were inside my nose stuck as they didn’t come out naturally so I blew it out softly and today I blew out the other side the last remaining blood clots and I’ve never been happier

Don't fret too much, I had the same thing happen. I can breathe great, that is the important part for me. I told the Doctor going in I want to breathe, smell is secondary to breathing. Thank you for your very informative video! I've been told I should have surgery. The endoscopy revealed something that may or may not be a large polyp and also revealed that my septum is very deviated. After I get a CT scan this week, Doc will review results with me and we'll discuss options. WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD I ASK HIM? A biggie is: what are the surgery risks? (I've never had surgery in my life, I'm in my 50's). He said he doesn't do packing. A debridement would be done 2 weeks after surgery to clean out the clots, scabs, etc and to prevent scar tissue from forming. He'll prescribe a narcotic for me to take before that procedure. Ug, it sounds awful. He did say the debridement experience would be less intense if I do saline rinses many times per day since that will reduce crusting and help with healing ... every hour that I'm awake if I can stand it! Wow, that's 16 times a day I guess for those 2 weeks -- that seems impossible after I have to go back to work, etc. Techgooch, did you have just one debridement? And do you still have to take medication (for allergies or to keep the polyps from coming back)? Are there any details you might like to share that didn't get included in the video?
@techgooch
@techgooch Жыл бұрын
I just shot a update video that will be posting in the next couple of days, but I had 2 visits to the doctor after my surgery, one about 6 days later to take out the packing, and the next 2 weeks later to check the healing and get the all clear to stop packing with Vaseline. I do take medication daily (Flonase) that I purchase OTC at Sam's Club, and I do a round of Prednisone every so often to reduce any polyps that are re-growing. Otherwise, life is way better post-surgery. I hope you check out my update video.

Thanks for sharing your video. I have a rather large polyp inside my nose and for years have not been able to smell anything that's not right up to my face. However, the idea of not being able to breathe from my nose after the operation totally freaks me out and is preventing me from getting it removed. You even had to clog your nose with Vaseline so how were you able to eat and drink

To be honest, the clogged nose for the week after surgery, followed by the vaseline procedure for 2 weeks after that was worth the trouble. I didn't find it too terribly difficult since I couldn't breath very well anyway, but now that the nasal cavity is fully open, I have no breathing issues. While my sense of smell did start to return a little, for the past month and a half I I haven't really had any smell again. I don't know the cause, and I will eventually see my doctor again to ask, but I can breath, that is the most important part!

@@little.pixiedoll I still have not had the surgery for the fear of not breathing through my nose. I mean how do you eat and what if you get a cold while healing? When my brother was 7, he began operations on his nose for polyps. They kept returning so he decided to stop the operations. He's 75 now.
@little.pixiedoll
@little.pixiedoll 2 жыл бұрын
@@roseannloasby6554 I am getting my procedure done in 2 days so I'll keep you updated. I usually have to hold my breath while eating, and chewing anyways due to having polyps. The polyps already make it almost impossible to breath through my nose so I'm not worried about having a surgery that will cause temporary blockage that I already have on a daily basis. There are things to reduce the possibility of them coming back such as steroidal sprays and rinses I am also starting allergy shots soon because allergy flare-ups can cause then to come back as well.
